WARNING - Possible fire hazard

Gets very, very, VERY hot! The underside you cannot actually touch without recoiling as it's burning hot.
This is a known and common problem and the official support recommends putting a fan on it and elevating it on something so there is an air gap underneath..... you should not have to purchase anything additional just to keep it from overheating and it subsequently stop working or worse, catching fire!!
TP-Link are dragging their heels over a firmware update it seems so don't expect yours to be any different.
I suspect it's a problem with the design rather than any config so don't expect it to be fixed in the future either.

Other than that it's great, but this fault outweighs anything else it does.

I don't often write reviews on products I have purchased from Amazon. However on this occasion I have to. If you are wondering if this router is any good, quite simply it has surpassed my expectations ten times over.

I have recently switched to BT Full Fibre to the premises. The supplied router (Smart Hub 2) which you are supplied with is quite simply ...RUBBISH! Not worth setting it up.

I was previously using a four year old TP-Link AC1200 Router/Modem ( Archer 400) which I thought was doing a pretty decent job until I found out that only ONE of the ethernet ports ( the WAN/LAN port) allows the full potential of a 1Gb connection. That and the Wifi signal beyond 20 feet down my garden was poor and had to be boosted by an external POe wifi access point .The other three LAN ports only allow UPTO 100 Mbps. So hence my purchase of this new router.

After configuring the new router I am able to use the 5Ghz frequency at the bottom of my 100 foot garden while streaming Netflix...no delays at all, and this done using my Android phone! This new router has made my TP-Link EAP110 Outdoor access point redundant. I get a better signal from the new router than I do standing right next to the outdoor access point. I was in a Skype conversation with my partner and she said the video image was crystal clear now , where as before even using the 2.4Ghz frequency, the image was pixilated.

So if anyone reading this has any doubts whether to purchase this item....JUST DO IT! You will not be disappointed, It has transformed my whole house wifi network 100 times over! An absolute bargain!

I use this as my main router as an alternative to the virgin media super hub 2.
The speeds we got whilst using the super hub as well as the amount of cutouts was unacceptable.
Since switching the super hub onto modem mode and using the TP-Link Archer A7 as our main router, the difference has been phenomenal. We now get the speeds over WiFi and wired that we pay virgin media for.
The ‘Tether’ app, which is used to control the router’s settings, is extremely easy to use and allows you to see how many devices are connected to the internet, allows you to change your network name and password and allows you to block/unblock devices you don’t want to be connected at any point in time.
I strongly recommend this router to anyone who is experiencing similarities using virgin’s own supplied router as the difference is very clear.

i looked for a new router to get better coverage around the house since we are in lockdown and internet usage is higher and coverage could be better in my room when I'm working. The hub 3 is ok but the main issues are coverage around house and connection drops once a day.

installed the new router, very easy and straightforward, coverage around the house much better. great.

had a few video calls for work and the video and audio kept dropping out, very weird. did a few tests, changed a few cables as I thought it was a dodgy ethernet cable but it isn't, the router just randomly drops packets and is frankly unusable. have started the returns process.

I thought I’d jump into the WiFi 6 world as my old ‘ac’ class Netgear router was struggling with gaming ‘children’ 4K TV, and multiple smart devices - kept dropping and connection was slow = lots of household moans. So as there seems to be no integrated DSL modem-routers out there in the market, I paired this Archer AX50 with a DrayTek Vigor 130 modem. The modem did the business, passing the internet signal straight to the Archer AX50 with no configuration required. My ISP is BT and the Archer AX50 was then a breeze to set up with them via the Tether app which is very very easy to use. I’d recommend using the ‘Auto Detect’ option though when selecting the internet connection type. I was online again literally in minutes. 24 hours in, I have a strong reliable fast signal with no drop outs. Coverage around the house is also good except in hard to reach places for which I’ve the odd powerline and extender here and there. Very impressed so far and very happy ‘children’ (they are actually in their 20s!)

I've had 3 routers trying to WiFi the house and all 3 failed miserably. In the end I was forced to use tplink n series 4g mobile router just to have a minimum coverage.

Unfortunately that one used 2 antennas to both pick up the 4g signal from the isp as well as transmit the local network, so I had to live with 1 bar on the WiFi until the Archer arrived.

I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it, after all the walls are thick and the 2nd floor is also a concrete slab, so I expected a marginal improvement.

Well, it was an improvement but not even close to marginal. This thing blew everything out of the water. 4 WiFi boosters and a router + repeater couldn't get half the signal strength of this thing.

If you have any misgivings about your current local WiFi, buy this and forget about your troubles.

It can't beat a cable, but what's on offer here will satisfy 99% of users.

After months of laggy speeds, black spots and being unable to use several devices at once I bought this. Fixed every issue.

You plug this into the virgin hub, put the hub into modem mode and you are sorted.

This also fixed me being kicked out of ps5 online games despite being hard wired.

I can not reccomend this enough to virgin customers. Worth every penny.
