Product Description
Play Ahoy There!, the fun card game that turns every player into a pirate! Steal cards from your neighbours, keep the best ones for your hoard of booty, then pass your hand overboard to the next player to see who’ll sink or swim. Dig for gems and a Holy Grail, look out for curses or losing all your loot. Stash the most treasure to win! 2-5 players, 6 years and up. Ahoy There! can take you high into the crow’s nest or see you sink deep down into Davy Jones’ locker! Pirates play round by round in a nerve-jangling battle of wits and tricks. Each buccaneer sets sail with a hand of Loot cards. When the captain shouts “Ahoy There!” it’s all hands on deck. Pick a card from the pirate to your left and add it to your hand. The next sailor to their left does the same and so on until everyone has chosen a card at random. Now use strategy and skill to decide which card to stash in your Treasure Chest the pile of booty in front of you and which cards to keep. Some are worth more than others, some spell trouble, some will be worth keeping in circulation. Next, everyone passes their hand to the player on their right! Time for the next round, this time with a brand new set of cards and choices! Keep playing until each pirate is down to one card. Look out for “Give ‘Em All Yer Gold”, a card that forces you to sacrifice your spoils. “Curses” mean trouble too, with points deducted at the end. “Skull & Crossbones” means you need to return a card to the deck. Then there are “Necklace” and “Gem” cards collect a set and you’ll boost your booty. Land the “Holy Grail” card and you’ll discover it’s worth much more than a few doubloons Tot up your points at the end and see which pirate has heaped the biggest haul to win!

This game is simple but it is just what I was after, a game the whole family can play. My three year old has had many hours fun playing with this as have I.
This game is also good to help encourage counting as after each game my little one counts how many swords it took that time. Each time is changes. Some times is can be just 1 and the next it could be 20.
It may seem a little pricey for what is it but I would recommend.
This would make a great Christmas or birthday gift.

The game itself is foolproof and fun, consisting of a barrel, afore mentioned cheap swords (4 different colours) and the eponymous pirate and that’s it! If nothing else, it’s an easy fun game for 10/15 minutes at a time and teaches your child the valuable lessons of sharing and waiting your turn. A pity those swords are so cheap!
Play to pop or not to pop, up to you. Good with two players but better with four for added excitement and suspense and you can play rounds. Each game takes just a couple of minutes, so you can always squeeze in a quick game if you are short on time, but promised you'd play something.
Can be used as a fair and fun decision maker if you have two or more children fighting over something!
If your children like this sort of game, try also Dino Bite (really makes you jump) or Buckaroo which has an element or skill as well. If you have a Frozen fan there is also a Pop Up Olaf version .
Great game and a good one to get out if you have family or friends over as anyone can play and it will entertain all ages.
The time it took opening the box & setting it up was far longer than how long this game was played with before it was put away. It’s cheaply made, the barrel is flimsy, the pirate either pops out in the 1st couple of swords or not at all. Because the barrel is so flimsy, you’ve got to hold it down in order to not knock it over when you put the swords in. Honestly, it’s a let down all in all. Waste of a tenner
I got this as a new game to play now the littlest is 3.5 years. It doesn't feel the most well made but it is put together ok. It is lightweight but I don't know how durable.
You put the swords all around the barrel, in their gaps and then one of them will trigger the pirate to pop up, which isn't far and hasn't yet hit anyone in the face, so that's good.
You need to push down and twist the pirate to reset. This is where I had issues. The piece that goes down likes to get stuck every now and again, leaving the kids with no winner and a boring game that only half the time works. This was disappointing to them, as they really liked trying to make him pop!
I wouldn't recommend this, I just don't feel like it will last long enough. It didn't even last 2 goes before the spring for jammed. Waste of money. I'd have said worth £5.
This is worth the tenner I paid as it is a speech aid to make his learning fun, it helps him choose a colour and say the word and also to play the game with his cousins when they come over.
