one of our goldfish, 'Finn', is food aggressive, he is actually pretty much everything aggressive. He is not a bad fish, just a self-centred idiot. His long-suffering tank mate, 'Heidi' has resigned herself to her fate. She is the only fish that I have ever seen roll her eyes. She loves him, I think, but she knows she deserves better.
Heidi and Fin were both the same size 6 months ago when we bought them. He is now about 5 times as big as her due to his indiscriminate eating habits.
Last time I went away I put in the holiday feeder a few days in advance to make sure they were ok with it, The food I chose was of a waxy consistency with flakes of food embedded in it. After a few hours, Fin started picking it up and chucking it about, by morning all the food was gone and the water in the tanks was very murky. My fish had consumed 28 days worth of food in 10 hours. I had to clean the tank out and race off to buy more holiday food. This supa food came highly recommended. I pretty much had to stick it in and dash off hoping for the best. I was relieved to find them both hale and hearty on my return and the water in the tank was still in good condition too. I now use these every time that I go away.
If it worked for Fin it will work for even the most obnoxious of Goldfish.
