Following his brutal search for the missing daughter of an old army colleague, Hoon is being hunted by the Loop, a secretive criminal cabal with members in very high places and a tendency to eliminate all those who stand against it.
Unfortunately for them, Hoon has never been one to back down from a fight, and he isn’t about to start now. Instead, he’s going to burn their whole damn organisation to the ground.
But first, he’s going to have to get inside.
He may be a foul-mouthed, hard-drinking psychopath with a death wish, but Bob Hoon is about to do something he hasn’t done in years.
He’s going undercover.
Read the second explosive Robert Hoon Thriller from million-selling crime author, JD Kirk - perfect for fans of Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, and David Baldacci.

JD Kirk lives in the Highlands of Scotland with his wife, two children, and a number of sturdy umbrellas. Despite writing from a young age, 'A Litter of Bones' is his first novel, and combines his love of the Highlands, crime thrillers, and cats.

Away with you; you just leave it to me son.
Hoon, retired copper, current one man warzone, has been wound up and let go. Still on the search for Caroline Gascoine, an offer of help comes from an unexpected quarter. Initially reluctant to allow anyone to join him in his mission, Hoon comes to see the advantages of teaming up, but some rules still need to be observed. And that’s non-negotiable.
Follow Hoon as he takes no prisoners on his quest. Untameable, fearless and well and truly out of order, Hoon has made a promise to get the job done. And, if you don’t believe him? Well, you know fair well what you can do.
Absolutely superb; feels like the very best of guilty pleasures.
I'm guessing Mr Kirk has been watching the TV series Banshee, owing to one of the antagonists and also a particular 'characteristic' he might have, not saying any more than that! Good work, JD, very good work!
The plot itself is great, fast paced, intriguing and more than a few laughs among the darkness.
Keep up the good work please, both in this series and DCI Logan. You are one of the few authors I check Amazon constantly to see when the next book is out!
I couldn’t wait for this one to be publish, I couldn’t wait to read it, I couldn’t wait to finish it, but I don’t want it to end.
Strap yourself in, and hold on tight, we are going from 0 to 100 in a matter of 4 chapters!!
I would highly recommend reading the first book ‘The North Wind’ featuring my mate Bob, just so you can get to grips with his character and refine your Scottish accent.
Having read all of JD Kirk’s book I’ve known about Bob for a while.
I was a little reluctant to read the first book, couldn’t get enough of it and have been waiting with baited breathe for the follow up.
While my Scottish accent still hasn’t improved much (I just can’t help myself when Bob is talking) my absolute love for the crazy bastard just keeps getting stronger!!
Can’t wait for the next instalment!!
I enjoyed reading this book and I really felt some compassion in Bob's interactions with a couple of characters. Although, he would swear blind (in an absolute huge variety of words) I was reading the story wrong. Miles & Greig were brilliant additions and I would really be interested to see if they could be further developed in the following book in this series. Just a thought on my part there. Again, I really feared for Bob but I realise now, he is an ageing, bad tempered, bad mouthed, Scottish version of the Terminator - what a film that would be.
I really enjoy the way the writing of JD Kirk immerses you so very quickly into the story to the extent you really care for the goodies and despise the baddies - it's a gift he has in spades. Hope we don't have to wait too long for book 3. This series could run & run. Bravo JD, you have delivered again.
Hoon is a brilliant character and anti-hero - violent, foul mouthed, sarcastic and at war with most of the world, however he does have a heart of gold even if it is well hidden. Most of the other characters are largely bit part in a story that hammers along at a relentless pace and has some fantastically funny moments alongside the brutal violence.
Gritty, funny and highly recommended.
