Having been extremely lucky to get an xbox series x, on day one. My main focus was on external storage. Now as you may or may not know, the series x is only 1TB. And, as a double whammy, the external storage is SSD, which stops any old external storage device from storing series x games. Only xbox one games would be able to be on the old external drives.
So when I heard about this card, as you can imagine, my ears pricked up. Now, imagine just spending £449.99 on a brand new console, and then being told that this little device (and it is little) can store your new shiny x series games. You'd think it was great...right?.....well NO.
Firstly, as I've said, it is small. And is easily fitted, and set up. But, it was £219, when it was first released. That is a ludicrous price. It's like buying a £300 pound washing machine, and then having to pay 200 for the powder.
And why 1TB? For the price, you should get at least 2TB minimum. And the thing is, you Will need one of these, somewhere down the line. Games are now hitting over 100GB to install. So the series x isn't going to be able to store all your games.
I know people will say its cause the series x has faster storage components. So the SSD has to too. But to expect people to spend so much for so little, is a bit of an insult.
Hopefully more SSD external drives will turn up. But as of now, this is an expensive necessity.
