Frankly I expected better, both due to the product description and the reviews. Basically these are just the same as the ice blocks you can get in the pound shop, no better. They do not stay frozen any longer, chill any better or appear to have ‘gel’ in them - it looks to be the same watery substance as all the rest. I thought these would be an improvement on the 10 year old (cheap) blocks I currently have which last a few hours before defrosting and making the contents of the cool box wet, but they are exactly the same, and are identical in every way in the case moulding. I can’t tell which are the new ones and which are my old ones.

These are rubbish quite upset that I spent £9.00 on them and were swayed by the positive reviews. Sunday popped them in the freezer used today used a well insulated cool bag, was out for no more then 2 hours doing some food shopping weather wasn't even that hot today. They wet the bottom of my bag and although were still cool literally had defrosted. Like another reviewer stated these are no different quality to the ones selling in poundland or the supermarkets. Infact prior to buying these I was using 500ml plastic drink bottles filled with water and frozen which stayed frozen alot longer then these ice blocks.

Cold as fridge from 9.00am until past 7.30pm - surprised and very pleased

Spent the day cycling, so no coolbox or any insulated container. Packed our picnic inside a carrier bag then into a dry bag by 9.00am, then put in my pannier with 6 cooling slabs. While out opened the food package several times and also the pannier several times in addition, so there was some heat ingress into and around the food package as well as the warm air movement around bike ( Most of the day was 20 - 22 degrees C.). I expected the cool slabs to stay cool a couple of hours at the most, in these real life conditions.

Was really impressed the last of the food was still fridge cold when I got home at 7.30pm, plenty cold enough not to worry about putting the unused food back in the fridge rather than throwing it away. I could have perhaps got away with using less slabs and got a lighter load to pedal about, but it was my first go at using chill packs and I did not fancy food poisoning!

Surprisingly when I picked up the slabs to refreeze, they were still so cold it was uncomfortable to hold them for long in my hand. I have not used any chill packs before, so maybe they all last this long, but I was impressed,

Given the length of chill time, I would imagine they might be good wrapped in a towel or blanket for my pets to lie/near on if we have another heat wave. I have just ordered another set so I can try this out. It would be too cold for a pet without some kind of wrapping and too hard a surface. I hope this works out as my cat retreated to the bathroom sink, the china was the coldest surface he could find earlier this year.

If you want a particular size, check the specifications. When i was trying to decide what brand to get, I realised sizes varied a lot from the image in the photos. These were a bit smaller than they looked in the photos and quite slim but that was a good thing for me.

I had the task of transporting my axolotl in the car with me on holiday for a 6 hour car journey, on two of the hottest days the UK has seen.

I was worried I will admit, but 4 ice packs in a cool box with my sweet axolotl Solaire, and he made it on once piece, the car was over 30 degrees and he was a cool 14 degrees, just comfortable for him!!

So from my experience, these are fantastic!! They will keep ypir food cold, but also your pets that like the cold!

Bought to put in my snap box to keep my packed lunch cool, have my box in a not really insulated backpack, which is kept in a pretty warm area where i work, also have a frozen bottle of water in my bag, the water melts during the day but there is generally a bit of ice left at the end of work and these ice blocks are still cold and partially frozen, which is 10 hours after taking them out of the freezer, so, i would imagine that if you had these in a insulated cooler bag or box, they would keep it cold for absolutely ages the description says 12+ hours and i would say that should be easily achieved. If you are looking for some freezer ice blocks i would recommend this brand.
