How can they dare to sell this as a 150MB/sec drive?
I copied a 2000MB file to it, after a minute it slowed to 13MB/second. I have old USB 2 drives that are faster than that!
I used the standard Crystal Disk Mark benchmark and there you go:
Sequential read 40MB/sec and write only 12.66 MB/sec!
I returned mine. I expected more honesty from Sandisk.

I can confirm three main things that others have mentioned:
1. It gets extremely, dangerously hot during normal use, if even remotely taxed (e.g. transferring files bigger than a couple of GB or transferring a bunch of smaller files in one go, which takes a long time)
2. This excessive heat causes it to perform extremely poorly (it is fast when cool but chugs something rotten when it heats up)
3. Possibly as a result of the excessive heat, mine has now completely failed after only a few weeks of usage.
I'm extremely annoyed that I've lost some data that I can't get back. (The transient nature of USB flash storage means that I hadn't yet backed the stuff up, because it was work in progress and I was on the move so didn't have a way to back up until I got home, by which point it was a goner). It's getting replaced, which is good, but apparently that requires me to send in the old product with my data on it which frankly isn't ideal (luckily I don't have anything overly personal or questionable on it but that's not really the point).
Not Good!
The device is connected to an un-used usb3 hub on my motherboard (no other ports in use) on an i9 9900k @4.7Ghz, all file transfers are from SSD to USB Key.
1. As soon as I got it I started a copy of 27GB from an SSD, around 300,000 files, it's going to take an estimated 18 hours. Speeds vary between 20kb and 70kb per second, with very short bursts of 100kb to 200kb.
2. I started copying another batch, again many files but not as big or as many as the first one, I started when I got up and it was still going at 11pm, but was finished when I woke up the next day.
3. I then copied a single 2.5GB file and it started off great with nice speeds, it then dropped fast and continued to drop slowly over time. I think the file corrupted however so I had to remove it, about 2 hours lost there. I didn't try to re-copy it over.
4. And finally what made this whole backup task pointless, I then started a file copy of 8.7gb, not that many files (100 to 200) and it's now saying 14 hours to go but it's now going from 0kb/s to 355kb/s...
And I have another 80 to 100gb to copy to it! This is just not going to happen...
So, an alternate solution is required:
I already have an external hot swap SATA 3 drive bay, so I can buy a standard Western Digital 2TB HD (a brand I have trusted for many years), no need to buy the black's which I typically do for internal machine use, but the cheaper green or blue ones will do as after copy the drive is just going to be sat on a shelf and rareley used again (I'm opting for the blue).

Luckily I had some files back up but not all, although the data transfer rate is very quick - do not buy for risk of failure.
My other, older memory sticks by Lexar have not disappointed me, I will not buy SanDisk again. I have used my Lexar memory stick the same way I had used the SanDisk stick and I have had no troubles at all.
As returns/refunds are limited by 4 weeks I am left with a useless device
When I inserted the drive in to my laptop it was instantly recognised. I then tried to copy a 5GB file across. I received an error message. I formatted the drive to ex-fat and tried again. The file initially wrote at 19mb/s and steadily increased to a maximum of 60mb/s before going down to 22nb/s. It stayed at this speed until the file was copied across. The thumb drive also heated up quite a bit after copying only one file.
For the purposes I intended this is woefully inadequate. Write speeds are important to me and therefore this drive is definitely not for me.
I have carried out countless similar tests with SSD's and all types of memory devices so can be confident that my findings are accurate and that the performance of these tests do not suffer due to any hardware issues or bottlenecks in my system. I will be returning this for a refund.
