Christian can’t believe his luck when a case basically falls in his lap, that will help him enact the vengeance he has so desperately craved for almost 20 years. To take down a man that beat him as a teenager, and made his life a living hell.

Over the years he’s convinced himself that the man’s daughter, Arya - and Christian’s first love - betrayed him too.

So when she turns up to her father’s mediation meeting, Christian can’t help but taunt her. Provoke her. Screw with her a little. Because he reinvented himself at 18, and she doesn’t even recognise that he is actually 𝘩𝘦𝘳 first love, Nicky.

Shen never disappoints with the enemies to lovers trope.

Flitting back and forth between the past and the present, you really get a feel for how deeply both their feelings ran. They never forgot about the other. But whilst Christian turned his love into hate and resentment, Arya mourned his loss and thought of him often.

Conrad Roth is a despicable excuse for a human being, but I felt Arya’s conflict. I can’t even imagine finding out that my father, my ultimate hero, was such a horrendous lech…it would be so hard to marry the two sides of him. But she handled it impeccably; she’s such a good person at her core.

The dynamic between Christian, Arséne, and Riggs is an interesting one. You can feel the true camaraderie, but they are all soooooo different. Can’t wait to read the other two’s books.

I have waited months for this book to be released and so glad it did not disappoint. LJ Shen does it again with her flawless writing and artistry.

The story follows Aryra and Christian with flashbacks to their past (which I always enjoy immensely). This gives you an insight into how strong their connections is, so when you read their POV in the present, it helps you understand their character so much better.

As always, the concoction of angst, heartbreak, sauciness and happy ever after makes for a gripping read. I finished this book in a day!

The title is how to categorise this book. There's so much to say about it, but I'm not one for giving spoilers, so I'll keep this review short. It's the tangled mess of young love and then the continuance of finally falling in love again, except you're no longer a child and this isn't a child's outlook on life. Many things have transpired in the lives of those involved and yet, no !matter how far they may have come or how low some may fall, some times what can hold someone together can be those very experiences they thought they had lost a lifetime before!! It's a beautiful story of love revenge and love again. It's perfectly written and until today, I had never read a single novel by L. J. Shen and as of now I'm going to get some more of her books, as this book is just sheer brilliance. Seriously recommended.

I've read a lot of this authors books. I'm afraid this is one of my least favourites. I just didn't feel the revenge as much as I had expected. I never felt the hate that you can when you read an enemies to lovers book.

Christian had a rough childhood and enjoying the company of Arya each summer whilst his mother did the housekeeping for her parents was his highlight. He was clever and managed to do well enough to become a lawyer and when he found there was a case against Arya's father he jumped at it. He hated the man and was determined to bring him down. Seeing her again had him wanting her and he never lost.
