I am a huge Stephen Leather fan and I always look forward to publication day. Stephen's standalone novels just keep getting better and better. I was particularly pleased to see him hero a woman as the lead character this time. Sally is unflappable, level headed and definitely someone you'd want by your side in a crises. Although I'd correctly guessed the mole within a few pages it did not hinder my enjoyment of the book. So much so that I've just read the majority of the book in one sitting when I should be asleep.
It was great to see Major Gannon in action too, no nonsense get the job done.

I'd like to find out which way Mendoza goes, maybe scope for another standalone along with Hirst's backstory.

A fine, action packed white knuckle ride to the last chapter.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Thank you for giving us a heroine! More please.

This was embarrassing, it was every corny plot and line taken from all the American special agent shows. I cringed when reading it, and could soon predict the rest of it. So disappointed. I used to love his books but this was obviously written by a friend of the author, who said, what do you think of my first attempt at writing, and Leather said, yes, that will do and published it as a favour. Joking of course, but how else could it be so cliched and tired. Awful, awful.

The beginning is a straight lift from 'Six days of the Condor' by James Grady. The film starring Robert Redford taken from the book shows Redford going out for sandwiches and coming back to find his colleagues all dead and then going on the run for his own safety etc. Really disappointed to start reading this book and getting déjà vu. Sent it back.

I love Leather's Spider Shepard books, but his standalones are just as good. This is a high paced thriller set over a very short timescale where a junior member of MI5 has to run to save her life, not knowing why. And then once she realises the importance of what she has, she ends up fighting incredible odds to keep something very valuable safe.

Then she realises she can't even rely on her own people in MI5 and has to go cap-in-hand to her ex-boyfriend; and then the fireworks really start to fly!

Fast action London thriller

I enjoyed this thriller based in London where Sally is a MI5 operative in charge of maintaining undercover agents’ legends, buying items to keep their profiles updated as well as managing safehouses. She quickly gets deeply involved in a plot from a Mexican cartel to capture an informant before he turns evidence. It is a high action story even for Leather and is a great read. On the surface Sally is a great heroine who does an amazing job, better than Spider Shephard or James Bond, however there is little character detail such that Leather could have written this for Sammy and then finally used find/ replace to interchange Sammy with Sally. Its also nice that Major Gannon a regular supporter of Spider’s adventures features highly which allows the series to develop and I am sure that we will get a cross-over sometime with the new heroine and our Spider-man.

The nightmare of survival had started. Everywhere she went they appeared ,as if they knew her every move. It became obvious that there was an informed in Mi5 ..... Her office.what was it all about. A very good read.

I quite enjoyed the book. It is about a woman who works for MI5 in a lowly position and who takes on the Mexican cartel who have sent ex-SAS mercenaries to London to kill people. She runs every day, hence the title of the book. I did not like her much but she gets the job done....there are also Americans - the DEA - and some rogue special forces men involved! A lot of shooting and everything is in London and when he described where they were, I recognised it!
