The wording of this product clearly states "Thick, edible card coated in side and out with meadow hay"
Perhaps it is edible, but not for rabbits as is advertised.
Our rabbit ate this and the cardboard became compacted in its stomach preventing food from passing through. Despite a number of trips to the vet costing just over £350, they were unable to save him and he had to be put to sleep.
My children were devestated and I absolutely CANNOT recommend this product, DO NOT buy it.
I am now out of pocket and out of rabbits.

I have to buy one every month because my bunny loves it and it stopped chewing the furniture as he is so focused on the cottage.

EDIT: I still love this product it is edible and my bunny never had a problem after chewing it. If you rabbit had problem it's probably due to other factors. Gut stasis unfortunately has many causes and this cottage cannot be blamed for it.
This is a chewing toy as it get destroyed every month and it keeps my bunny happy and entertained.

I bought this for my grandson as he was getting guinea pigs. When my daughter opened corner of packaging black flies flew out and the house inside was heaving with maggots. She took a video of this and I sent this to company who did not reply. Poor

Peter is a very timid and shy rabbit. He has numerous health issues and a lot has went on in his short 7 months so far. Can't believe how much interest he has shown in this product, he absolutely loves it and it's the first time I've seen him really relaxed. Brilliant product will definitely buy again once Peter has chewed his way through this one!

My daughter spent her own money on this as a first birthday gift for her winter white dwarf hamster Swizzels. He LOVES it! As soon as he saw it he was nibbling at the walls and when he got to the carrot roof he kept going! He likes to hide in it too. Swizzels isn’t keen on fresh carrot so it was a surprise he found the roof so tasty! 2 weeks later and he still loves it. I’ve just caught him nibbling the roof so thought I must write a review!

8 MONTHS LATER: Swizzels still loves these carrot houses. So much so that I’m just ordering a third one as the previous 2 have been nibbled so much they needed replacing. Swizzels won’t be without his carrot houses!!!

My hamster loves these little cottages. We had the small one and he ripped it apart but it took days and days of hard work and determination from my furry friend so definitely a boredom buster. Last week I noticed he was munching his way through the opening of his plastic house (it was getting too small anyway) and so I thought I'd order another cottage for him to make his nest in and reorder it when it's destroyed. He's a big hamster so I though I'd go for the medium to give him some more room. BIG mistake. The medium one is about the size of a large shoe box and takes up more than half the floor space in the cage (guess who didn't look at the sizes on the description?) So I took a pair of scissors to the cottage and made a makeshift tent for him and he seems to love it. He nibbles the roof and climbs over it, claws at the grass on the walls then he snoozes in it. Ideal product for hours of fun for your hamster. Highly recommended.

I volunteer at an animal shelter where I bought this for our rabbit. The delivery wasn't very fast so the rabbit in question was adopted before it arrived (yay, though). I know it's gonna make some other critter very happy in the future! I had a smaller version of this for my syrian hamster and he LOVED it so much that I bought another one as soon as he'd gnawed it up. If your animal is heavy it can tip over, so be sure to kind of dig it down into the bedding a little bit or put something on the sides. That's really the only downside. Lasts a long time!

Our two young guinea pigs absolutely love these, we ordered the first one when they were still quite small and it took them almost four weeks to demolish it. They are now on their second one, but being a big bigger now I expect they'll get through it a bit faster. Even if it only lasted a couple of weeks, I would still say it's good value.
The piggies like it so much because it provides a hiding place, so if they are feeling shy they can keep munching away inside it. When they are feeling a bit braver, they can chew on the outside bit, or stand on their hind legs to reach for the carrot bits on the roof. I wasn't sure how good it was in terms of nutrition, but their breeder who owns a pet hotel said they are absolutely fine, as long as you also provide a daily supply of fresh veg and hay.
All in all this is a great product. Come one, who wouldn't want an edible house?
