Even though all the marketing photographs show this camera fitted to external walls, this camera is 0% waterproof. It will completely fill with water in the first rain shower, and then it starts firing all sorts of strange alerts.

Where do I start? So my first experience of using a Ring product was about 1 and a half years ago when I originally purchased the ring stick up cam. I had to exchange it 3 or 4 times before I got one that actually worked. The good news... it’s still going, but it has been well sheltered from the elements under a roof overlooking the front driveway.So more recently, I decided to get the new Ring Spotlight Cam Battery for the side driveway. I installed it, and connected it no problem. However, after 2 days it stopped working and I was receiving notifications telling me the battery compartment was open when it was completely closed. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the battery and inside the spotlight cam was wet. There was also a significant amount of water behind the camera lens. It had been raining for the last couple of days. The camera was well installed, and the battery compartment was completely closed.If I’m paying £200 for an outdoor security camera that’s advertised as an ‘Outdoor Camera’, then I’m sorry... it needs to be WATERPROOF, not ‘Weather Resistant’. There was water literally dripping out of the camera as I was putting it back in its packaging to send back.I’ve always been weary of Ring products to be honest since I bought the Stick Up Cam a year and a half ago. Their products are expensive, but very poor quality and poor value for money. Fortunately, there are other products on the market now to choose from.

So more recently, I decided to get the new Ring Spotlight Cam Battery for the side driveway. I installed it, and connected it no problem. However, after 2 days it stopped working and I was receiving notifications telling me the battery compartment was open when it was completely closed. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the battery and inside the spotlight cam was wet. There was also a significant amount of water behind the camera lens. More hassle than worth

Absolute nightmare. Struggles to get a decent Wi-fi signal, we’ve got an Orbi network which the cameras seem to hate. Then the first cold night and the lens mists up. Bit pointless really
