WHAT to EXPECT?
You should use DEESS IPL once a week for the first 12 weeks, to ensure all of the hair follicles are treated. As hair grows in different phases, it’s important to continue your weekly treatments to ensure the chosen area has been thoroughly treated. With regular and consistent treatments, you'll notice fewer hairs growing back. Any hair that does grow back will be finer, lighter in colour and will grow much more slowly.
After 12 weeks, you’ll only need to complete top-up treatments as and when they are required. This is usually only once every 4-8 weeks, which is hugely different to shaving 2-5 times a week. Who can use this device? DEESS 586 should only be used on Fitzpatrick I-V skin tones and works best on darker hair colors. IPL is effective on naturally black, brown and darker blonde hair colours, but may not be as effective on red, white, grey or very light blonde hair. White and grey hair does not contain enough melanin to absorb the light energy. Red hair contains a different type of melanin which is not responsive to IPL. I am not convinced just yet as it's only been a couple of weeks and, as far as I remember from info many years ago, one is supposed to do it twice a week the first 2 weeks, then every week for a month then repeat it every fortnight for some time.. I obviously did nothing of the sort, only had a chance to try it twice and so far have noticed just slower growth (not sure if related to use of the device though), will have to keep trying. The one thing you need to remember is: press it to the skin. If it's ready, the line of the indicator lights will be completely green (all 5 or 6 bulbs). You can adjust tge intensity, as is my understanding, but you have to make sure it is in contact with the skin, I mean the lamp window. The lamp wires seem slightly askew in 2 places, I just hope this does not impact the quality. A bit mire care wouldn't hurt during the production of these things (whenever I see this I keep recalling a documentary about child labour and it does get me uneasy about them new manufacturers whose produce comes with faults that only an amateur could make). Fingers crosses no nasty business. Since you control the process you can ensure you cover all of the area you are working on, but it is a tedious business, the lamp window is only this big. Many beauticians claim there is ni harm to breastfeeding and pregnant mothers, this device comes with an instruction to not use it if in such circumstances. There is also an indication against people with heart conditions using this device. I would recommend you read on IPL equipment before ordering this just to make sure you won't be getting a machine that does not suit you. All in all, it is easy to use, quite easy to clean and to avoid looking at it when in use. They advise that the head containing the lamp will darken over time, so not too aesthetic.
