I have seen some reviews complaining about the lack of some of the notorious cards from a few of the expansion packs, for example curse of the cat butt... but from the sounds of what it does, it's an annoying card so I can see why it was omitted from this collection.
In truth, Recipes For Disaster (RPD) is the closest all-in-one box you're going to get that combines all of the best cards of the base game plus the imploding kittens, barking kittens & streaking kittens expansions. This is exactly what I was looking for and RPD is exceptional value for money versus buying all of these separately. Plus, a fancy RPD version of the wearable cone of shame!
The main draw that made me pick up RPD ewas the included recipe cards, which show you a custom deck that you should build in order to change the way in which the game plays. For example, there is a fast-paced mode whereby absolutely no diffusers are included in the deck. I have personally found that the base game of exploding kittens can get pretty stale after a while, especially if you tend to play with the same group or same amount of people. The recipe cards shake things up with different game modes so I can definitely see it adding some longevity.
If you already own the base game and a couple of the expansions, this probably isn't for you. If you don't own any of them (such as myself, until now. I had always played a friend's copy) or just the base game, RPD is definitely worth the money.
I have also seen some complaints that setting up games using the recipe cards takes too long. I have to disagree with this. The plastic inner tray of the box has a generous amount of slots for you to sort and fit your cards into. Just group them by type (which I did as soon as I opened the box up, because I'm a nerd) and you should find that it doesn't take at all before you're ready to get going. As long as you keep the box the right way up when transporting it elsewhere, all your cards should still be held in place where you left them.
Oh, and if you really don't want to wait and have to set up absolutely anything before your first game, the deck required to play the 'nope sauce' mode is already bundled together for you :)
