2kg is not enough for the masses of birds that came

It's been incredible. I've been shouting "Time for seeds!" At 7pm and coming out with a mug full to refill the feeder and sprinkle on the grass, and the cacophony of very excited birds has been amazing. The only downside is that the bag lasted maybe 5 days tops because the birds were just scarffing it down, then complaining at the window for more. We got it because we know (by the sound) that the sparrows, jacdaws and coal tits have just started having hatchlings, so have been a bit more food heavy. Hopefully this means the babies have all had a great start!

Burst bag and no birds

I've just opened the package and there were bird seeds everywhere as the bag had burst along the side. Thought it would be better quality packaging from RHS!

Also, I've had the seeds out in the dead of winter for a week now and we've gotten ZERO birds. Last time I bought seeds this time of year we couldn't get enough of them, and now nothing. Not even the sparrows care! Would not recommend!

Contained whole peanuts

I have had a number of batches of this mix and it has seemed reasonably popular with birds. However, the latest batch contained whole peanuts (never had this before) which are completely inappropriate for bird tables and ground feeders, especially in spring. If parents feed whole peanuts to their chicks they can choke or otherwise not digest them. Whole peanuts should only go into mesh feeders so birds can pick bits off them. It was annoying to have to pick through to remove the peanuts, in what was otherwise a much better variety of seed in the batch than previously. It is however a bit strange that each batch is so different.

Not only did the birds not really eat this, the seeds sprouted in the bag in several clumps! I had to throw the bag away, it was a waste of money. It's a shame because other RSPB bird foods are really good. The 750 gram RSPB Feeder Mix in the white and blue bag is very good, very reasonably priced, and the birds love it - get that one instead and avoid this.

Great value. Good mix of seeds. The garden birds certainly seem to like this. It's attracted quite a variety. However the bag is a little flimsy and it split open when I was handling it, spilling seed all over the floor. This wouldn't stop me buying this product again, in fact I will be doing so shortly. I'll just make sure I decant the seed into a plastic tub. It was well packaged for delivery. Very quick delivery too.

if it wasnt for the fact that you have to give star rate (re 1 star) i would have given MINUS STARS absolute rubbish far to much seed that most garden birds wont eat. i thought i was on a safe bet from rhs but wont ever buy again. most birds have disappeared from garden and only a blackbird bothers to look unfortunately i bought 2 bags and have thrown it all away.
