Your Pet's Gut
Dogs and cats have trillions of microorganisms living within their gut, known collectively as the microbiota. The microbiota is essential to the normal functioning of your dog or cat’s gastrointestinal tract. The microbiota is required for digestion of plant matter, production of certain vitamins, protection against harmful bacteria, maintaining a normal gut lining and supporting their immune system.
An imbalance to the gut bacteria (known as a dysbiosis) may disrupt these normal functions and result in your dog or cat becoming unwell.
There are many factors which may unbalance the microbiota such as: Antibiotic use, scavenging, stress, travel including stays in kennels and catteries, a change in diet or an underlying gut problem.
Your vet may suggest supporting them with: A bland diet, probiotics and prebiotics, clays and pectin.
Directions for use:
To administer the correct amount of the product use the handy wheel on the syringe plunger. Rotate the wheel until it is to the right of the number representing the desired quantity to be administered (see diagram below showing the correct and incorrect position for 10ml).

Useful tip for using Protexin Pro-Kolin

After reading some of the reviews about this product, it seems that one of the main problems with using it, is the tube that it in comes in. If you look at the photos I have attached, you will see that I dispense the paste into a smaller syringe, so administering it to an uncooperative cat becomes simplicity itself. Use a 5ml empty syringe, which can be bought online or obtained from your local vet. Pull the plunger out of the 5ml syringe, then turn the dial on the Pro-kolin tube and select the quantity you need, then squirt it into the TOP of the 5ml syringe (if you squirt it straight to the bottom of the syringe, it traps air in it and then it is more difficult to use). When you have the required amount in the syringe, put the plunger back in and press the paste to the bottom. It is now ready to use. I squirt it into the side of my cat's mouth with no trouble at all. The other thing that I discovered, quite by accident, is that some cats, will actually lick this off your finger, so why not try this first? :-)
