My 2 year old hated the potty until I got this book. We read through it the day it arrived and tried throughout the day while reading the book while she was sat on the potty. The next morning she asked for it herself. She is getting good at asking when she needs to use the potty now although there are occasions where she won’t ask and she still needs prompting sometimes, but I think that’s normal as it’s a learning process and isn’t usually something that happens overnight.
This book made using the potty a far less intimidating experience and she enjoyed reading & pressing the button with a cheering sound.
I believe that there’s a version of this book aimed at boys too if that’s helpful to anyone.
Honestly though, I can’t recommend this enough for little ones it’s massively helped us!

Great for a 3yr old potty training

My daughter is pretty late to the potty training scene - almost 3.5yrs so this book was perfect for her as she can really understand the story and sees herself as a little princess so sat on the potty because she wanted to be a big girl like the princess in the book. I like the cheering button and she got to press ONLY once she'd done her business. I like the part of the book where the princess chose her potty - I let my daughter do that too (well virtually through Amazon!) and also with the addition of some star stickers, we were successful in training her within days. Not sure the book would make much difference to a child that was a lot younger - they really need the cognitive ability to understand the story for it to work but hey even if they don't understand, it's a fun story with a cheer button. What's not to like?

Got gifted the Princess Polly’s a new big sister book for my daughter when her baby sister was born and it was not only a huge hit but really helped my daughter adjust to the realities of having a newborn in the house, crying, feeding etc. Bought this book when we started potty training and it hasn’t been quite so effective - didn’t like how it focused on poops being difficult to do as it put ideas in my daughters head when this hadn’t been an issue for her, but I understand it is for many others so is probably great for them. Overall though it’s still a lovely book and helped us on our journey towards potty training. It’s still taken out regularly and is good quality with nice pictures and an easy to follow story. I find my daughter reading it aloud to herself while following the pictures

Yay, poo in the potty!

The first book had no sound and a second book was sent immediately without having to return the faulty book! Excellent service!
My 2 year old is not interested in the story yet, she just likes to press the button. She doesn't care about wearing pants yet. She's especially like the page showing accident (pee on the floor) and poo in the potty! Yes, finally I can find a book that literally shows poo in the potty instead of talking/imagining that it's there! She had another book (What is poo?) which is great, it shows poo in baby nappy but not in the potty. She's not even started training properly yet because of constipation issue, but I hope this book will help along the way.

Nice book with an unimpressive sound effect

It's a nice book, solid with cute pictures. It hasn't helped my daughter use the potty or pants but it has given me a script for when she has accidents and she's read it a few times. 4 star rather than 5 because the cheer noise is not engaging. It is more of a fuzzy noise than a "well done!"
The cheer button on the first book we received was defective. I checked the batteries but couldn't see anything wrong. Amazon sent a new (working) one by the next day which impressed me.

The book itself is lovely, I had the same one a number of years ago for my eldest daughter and it really helps with encouraging them on the potty. I'm hoping it works just as well again for my youngest daughter.
Only given a low rating because the book arrived damaged and bent out of shape. Have been refunded though now.

If the person buying looks carefully the new models of this book have a tiny little button that you switch on 🙄😂 in my defence our pirate Pete version doesn’t so I didn’t look properly. I have amended my stars for this item too

My two and a half year old daughter enjoyed it and related to it. It peeked her curiosity and got her interested, just what we needed at the time. It goes through everything, who wears diapers and who doesn't, choosing your potty, what comes out and what to do, no need to be embarrassed. A good introduction to potty training that helped her progress.
