I loved being able to take control of everyone's favourite web head and explore Manhattan.
When you insert the disk, you can expect a 50GB update so be prepared to wait a little time to play.
The menu screen is simple and easy to use, nothing too exiting on it.
The web swinging mechanics are the best I've seen in a Spider-Man game to date. It is accurate not letting you attach to thin air and requiring you to have a surface to attach to.
The fighting in the game is decent, but can be very much button mashing exercise. be prepared to press the square button a lot should you get into a fight with many enemies. everything is down to timing tho, as you will press the circle button to evade incoming attacks. some enemies in the game might require a more tactical approach as based on their stature or weapon they can block, or are immune to, certain attacks. the only other variety of enemies are bosses, which you may recognise from films, other games and comics.
The main story for the game is enjoyable, but just as it feels as its coming together it comes to an end. I feel the build up to some of the enemy's was disappointing. Such as Vulture, I fought with him no more than 3 times in the whole game. feels like a missed opportunity.
During the story there are opportunities to play as Miles Morales (as a regular person, although hints at him becoming Spider-Man in either a Sequel or a piece of Downloadable Content) and Mary Jane Watson.
The side missions in the game are very repetitive, with crime prevention and base shut down against 4 different factions. Research stations have some variety, but there is definitely an underlying feeling of copy paste mission types.
There are 27 different suits to unlock in the game (1 of which is for 100% completion)
There are 8 different Gadgets, mostly revolving around web abilities. These can all be upgraded to improved versions.
There are 3 major skill areas; Innovator (12 skills), Defender (11 skills) & Webslinger (11 skills)
I would estimate around 15 - 20 hours of playtime in this game, although the story could probably be done in under 10 hours.
Id recommend the game, but not sure if its worth the asking price. just feels like its lacking some content.
This is a great game, but maybe not without its little flaws. Although Spider-Man for PS4 does get a lot right: swinging, combat, story, Spidey's personality, etc. there are a few things I found a bit annoying. As an example, the Sinister Six team-up is teased but really only incorporated into maybe 5% of the game - the majority of the story focuses on Mr. Negative, a relatively new character to Spider-Man's rogues gallery. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does feel like there was an opportunity here that was perhaps wasted. The story itself is also fairly predictable, even though it's held together with some really great performances throughout.
There are a lot of busy work tasks to complete like collecting backpacks, landmark tokens, research tokens, pigeons (yes, really) that, while not bad, never feels particularly interesting, either. I also found myself surprised at just how much aerial combat there was, particularly late in the game, when the combat system frankly doesn't support it very well. The last few fights are more annoying than challenging, particularly the final boss, who feels cheap and unwieldy.
There are also occasional stealth segments where you play as someone other than Spider-Man and must sneak past armed enemies. These are usually pretty short and decently-constructed, but every time one popped up I wanted to rush through so I could get back to being Spider-Man already.
Overall I definitely enjoyed my time with it, the photo mode is great, it looks and feels fantastic, I love the optional suits and just how satisfying it is to see them in motion, but it's definitely not without some flaws.
Nevertheless I would recommend this game to others and particularly if you want to get your kids off Fortnite!

The story itself is great, graphics of course are lovely as well.
The game throws you into the action as soon as you start it.
It’s based on gaining experience and spending points on skills.
You have a bunch of suits to unlock all of which require different tokens.
Challenge: you get from bomb cases dotted around the city.
Science: are from oscorp station on rooftops.
Crime: like other Spider-Man games crimes take place randomly, complete them and you get a token.
Backpack: well that explains it really, find backpacks...
Landmarks: you find landmark locations and take a picture of them.
In total you have 27 suits 2 of which you get by completing certain things on the map.
There is a lot to do and I did find myself roaming around just finding different things from the marvel movies.
At the end credits there is a cut scene that you sorta knew was coming but if you skip the rest of the credits you are left with a bit of a story hanger! Which may suggest another game? Not sure but if it is anything like this one I’ll definitely pick it up.
Recommend this to anyone that is a marvel fan or enjoys the batman games as it is slightly similar to them.
