An Amazon Charts bestseller.
She’s a total stranger. But she knows who you are…
Suzi did a bad thing. She’s paying for it now, pregnant, scared, and living in an isolated cottage with her jealous husband, Nick.
When Nora moves into the only house nearby, Suzi is delighted to have a friend. So much so that she’s almost tempted to tell Nora her terrible secret. But there’s more to Nora than meets the eye. It’s impossible—does she already know what Suzi did?
Meanwhile, Elle spends her days in her perfect home, fixated on keeping up appearances. But when her husband betrays her, it unravels a secret going all the way back to her childhood. She’ll do whatever it takes to hold on to him, even if that means murder. After all, she’s done it before…
Caught up in their own secrets and lies, these strangers will soon realise they have more in common than they could ever have imagined. When a shocking event brings them together, their lives will never be the same again.

It's a tale of domestic woe concerning Suzi, a thoroughly dislikeable woman, married to an equally dislikeable man, Nick. He's a passive-aggressive control freak who spies on his wife via high tech devices in the home and on her phone. She's pregnant by the second man she's had an affair with but hoping to pass it off as Nick's. Then we have the Widow Nora, a new neighbour who has moved into the delapidated cottage across the way. Is she a friend or foe to Suzi? Damian, one of Suzi's former work colleagues - just as sleazy and horrible as everyone else in this book - enters stage right in brief but nasty appearnces.
There's only one reasonably pleasant character in the form of sympathetic and obliging Dr Andrew Holt, who makes a couple of completely unbelievable appearances, and bringing up the rear we have a revolting alcoholic sleaze who works at the same hospital as an anaesthatist - as if.
The setting, a completely isolated rural nightmare of a place in Kent is quite atmospheric, but the characters are abominable, the writing often extremely clunky, the plot predictable and so repetitive it made by eyes bleed.
This is a ridiculous suspend-your-belief-totally book that I cannot recommend to anyone. The police thrillers concerning Paula Maguire are so much better, so read those and give this one a wide berth.
Nora, once wealthy and married, moves next door to Suzi when her husband is killed. She learns that her husband had diverted all her savings.
Suzi is married to Nick who is the worst kind of controlling male. He’s horrible and virtually keeps Suzi a prisoner with his behaviour. Suzi is pregnant. She has been having an affair with a man who has disappeared, without a word. She doesn’t know, for certain, who the father of her baby is. The question is, ‘why is Nora so interested in Suzi?’
There’s also input from Elle and the question about her is, ‘what’s she got to do with the plot?’ Elle is a talented pianist who has riches from her playing. She is married to Patrick, a doctor, another controlling individual, full of lies.
As the storyline progresses, the connection between the characters starts to reveal itself. Thrown into the mix are two police personnel who are investigating the discovery of a body, in the area very close to where Nora and Suzi live.
Obviously, a great deal going on, which keeps the pace going. Despite the rather dubious ending and some unanswered questions, I would recommend this book. It’s far better than many of the ‘churned out efforts’ I’ve read recently.
