Orchard Toys prides itself on striking the right balance between learning and fun, and this first game does exactly that. My two grandsons (now 2 and 3) have had hours of fun playing this, first simply spreading all the cards out on the floor and seeing who can find the most matching heads and tails, then progressing to placing them face down and playing a game of memory. It’s been a brilliant way to teach them about taking turns, being patient and developing their observation skills. For them, the best part is getting to make the noise of each animal they find (and then making everyone else in the room do it as well!).
The pack consists of 24 cards that can be put together to make 10 easily recognizable farmyard animals, in addition to a tractor and a farmer. The cards are a good size (11cm x 8cm) and are made of good-quality, thick board (too thick to bend). Top marks for educational value, durability and enjoyment. I highly recommend it to all parents looking to introduce their children to the concept of game play.
