Overpriced, but necessary

It's expensive, the cable is too short, it's of unremarkable quality - not poor quality, just nothing special - and unfortunately necessary if you want to be 100% certain of safe use with a Switch dock. Reports of hardware failures as a result of using unofficial Nintendo docks and/or unofficial Nintendo USB-C cables to power said docks are still happening at a steady pace.

That being said, if you don't want to use it to power a docked Switch, you don't actually need to fork out for this. Any USB-C cable with a 56 ohm resistor (a fairly standard component in a good quality cable) will safely charge the Switch in handheld mode, and you can save some money.

I'm with the vast majority of other buyers here though, the low rating is purely because of the price.

It's way overpriced.
However I didn't want to pose a risk to my Switch unit by using 3rd party hardware.
Normally I wouldn't buy into the Nintendo scaremonger and propaganda, but with the price of the Switch and it's components, it's just not worth the hassle.

Originally I just had the charger that came with the Switch. However this has transformed my life! Now I can leave the original charger in with the dock and when I want to use my Switch to go portable and worried about the console losing battery, my mind can now be at rest knowing that I don’t have to fluffing around trying to get the original charger plug out of the dock behind all my units to be able to charge my switch when it is running low on battery. Now I can reach into my draw and get this spare charger. Makes my life so much easier and no more fluffing around

I actually bought this for my Macbook Pro not the Switch. I was borrowing my son's Switch charger when I was working from home as the 2017 onwards Pros use USB C now. So much cheaper than the Apple version.

My only comment would be that once it gets to 100%, you hear a "ping" sound. It feels like it's getting to full charge then stopping and restarting. Might go off every 10 minutes which doesn't happen with the official Apple chargers. It just means I won't leave it on overnight or if i'm out.

Obviously also works with the Nintendo Switch so if you want a spare as you keep one plugged into the docking station, you can't go wrong.

This may be an espensive and overpriced ac adapter, but if you compare this to the cheaper bootlegged virsions which use cheaper components to keep production costs low, I chose to have my house fire free. Moreover, you avoid "bricking" your switch or invalidating your warrenty. To those who are reading my review and saying "rubbish!", heed my words my friend. Its better to be safe than sorry! I have given this four stars because of the stupid and idiotic price. Would be suited to £19.99 due to age of this console now as its not exclusive anymore.

Decent build quality and good quality cable. Just don't like the price of it, but as I mostly play my Switch on the couch, this was needed so I didn't have to keep disconnecting the original PSU from the Dock everytime I wanted to use it fr longer periods elsewhere in the house.

Expensive, but works to fast charge the Switch, and the controllers. Also, seems to be the only option if you want to use the TV mode, either through the official dock or the various third party dock options. Putting this official charger with a third party HDMI dock was that trick that brought it to life.
