"Man, I hate this place, there is no way of getting out" said one of them"
"Yeah, it sucks!"
These are just the high quality dust bags that you would expect from a super premium brand like Miele.
It has many attractive features but the main surprise was that we got this set of 4 (and 2 filters) for a very reasonable price, which implies that Miele is not trying o generate some excessive recurring revenues on the back of its already expense vacuum cleaners.
The 9-layered bags are good and of high quality that collect dust very well and apparently filters 99.9% of the dust particles (sorry I don't have the equipment to verify that). Also because they have a mechanism that closes the bag when the vacuum cleaner hatch opens, so very little dust will escape when replacing bag. Given my range of allergies including a hyper-dust allergy these are important attributes when replacing bags.
We use about 1 bag per three quarters of a year for our modest sized home and a family of four (not pets). So this set of four leaves us well stocked for the next few years. Though I should say that we have vacuum robots for some weekly maintenance on each floor as well.
In the past we have had bag-less vacuum cleaning solutions like Dyson but we weren’t happy with the frequent and messy cleaning of the container (and the suction power), so I’m glad we’ve moved back to a dust bag-based system. And these bags are simply really good.

Would definitely recommend.
When I bought these previously I was paying approx £8 for x8 bags now I have to pay £10 for x4 bags. It's ridiculous and not due to shortages as they are available everywhere - often for even more £££s.
If Miele don't want people to start using non-branded ones then they'll have to reduce prices. I don't think it's due to inflation either. Food and fuel prices you can expect to a point but not vacuum cleaner bags. I just think it's greediness especially due to the size.
Size
Like others have mentioned, these seem to have reduced in size so you have to replace them more often.
There was sometimes a problem with the older bags being difficult to remove when they got full but this was perhaps also down to using the bag more before replacing it. It seems to fit into the blue connector still fine.
Filters
I always replace the motor protection filter but I'm never sure why they include a filter to go on top of the airclean filter. All this does is block it and over heat the vacuum. Plus I doubt they want you to use the fabric filter instead of the plastic air filter as it wouldn't stay in place.
I do agree with some of the other reviews that the filters seem to be a little thinner with more like passing through but whether or not this will be an issue remains unclear at the moment.
Containment
I've always found these to be good quality on the past and rely on the official Miele bags to filter out the smaller particles. Since I work in glass and ceramics, it's essential that dry powders are contained and not breathed in as long term this can cause silicosis. I imagine for home use non-official bags would be fine for most people and wouldn't be surprised if many people turned to using them due to the price increases. The new bags still have the soft feel of the old ones but others have commented on them being thinner. They also still have the seal that closes the bags keeping all the debris inside - although other have commented it no longer has a metal part, it still seems to close fine.
Time will tell regarding the changes and if there's a difference I'll update my review, for now it seems to work the same and keep dirt contained ok.
