Best thing I've bought for my baby so far!

My little one (4months old) suffers from eczema and at night scratches like mad. His nails are so sharp that by morning there is blood everywhere. I have tried literally everything, but because he refuses to sit still, cutting and filing daily was a nightmare and was basically impossible.

This item has changed everything. The file tickles his skin so he almost enjoys the process and within seconds his nails are short and blunt enough for me to not have to worry. After a week of use his eczema is significantly better. This product has changed both pur lives, reducing my stress and anxiety and improving my babies skin.

PS It also works on my own nails. Buy it now!

Not great on tiny hands

We bought this for a newborn thinking it would make the battle of reducing down razor like nails easier. All it did was make me panic that I was going to file skin instead. On the rare occasion we did manage to make contact with nails, bearing in mind it took two of us, we found the direction had to be changed for each side of the nail otherwise it would not file effectively. At least it has two directional rotation and different speed settings. It also comes with buffer pads of varying grades. The light is pretty useless as it doesn't shine on the targeted area.

Despite purchasing for my little one, which by the way, now just use conventional nail clippers for, I use the file on myself as I have it. It's become a bit of a luxury/unnecessary item which I don't grumble about, I just don't need it as it didn't do what I had hoped.

I love this product! I've been using it on my baby since she was about a month old. It absolutely does not hurt her and I touch the skin with it all the time. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you get the hang of it you can do the nails super quickly. At first I would only use the slower setting and really took my time so it did feel just as long as a normal file but once you get the hang of it and a bit of confidence, whack it up to the higher setting and can get the nails done really quickly. I always do it when baby is sleeping, it doesn't wake her and sometimes I actually think she likes the low hum it makes.

I would always come at the nail from below to make sure I'm not going over the nail bed with it. I also hold it upside down as I find the light is aimed better this way. I also find it best to stick to the edges of the file. I found that when filing the corners its best to use the right turning setting for the right side and left turning setting for the left side. I will probably use the 0-3 months file until I feel it is no longer working on her nails rather than go by age to ensure the rougher file won't be too much for her skin and will do the same on the next setting up.

So glad I bought this! I assumed it would be slow, scary for baby, not work properly, but I am so scared to cut babies nails properly I took a punt. It works really well, files down the nails in minutes and doesn't bother or scare her at all. It stops turning as she hits in with her skin so super safe. This is going to save me so much anxiety.

I use this product to file my 7 month old son's nails. It takes a bit of getting used to in order to not file the nails unevenly and to have a nice rounded finish. Up until now I've been filing his nails with regular (paper) nail files and it took so much longer! The idea is the same, but you no longer have to manually make the movement. It's a great product as it doesn't hurt the baby, not one bit, even if it comes in contact with the skin for longer periods of time. Definitely recommended, especially for newborns! Comes in a neat case as well!

Really brilliant device for filing babies nails! I read all the negative reviews about it being a bit rough - but I tested it on myself and it was extremely gentle - it stops if you push too hard and doesn't file skin. There is definitely a knack to using it with the spin direction to not grate against the nail but I got the hang of it pretty fast.

Used on my little one - brilliant. She has terrible eczema and has been scratching in the night so much. Tried clipping, filing as well as biting the nails off myself - nothing worked. But after using this, NO MORE NAILS!!! 🥳

I knock off one star because the unit is a bit poor quality cheap plastic/mass produced. At first I had to use it with the battery unit open because the battery contacts were really poorly positioned and wouldn't work with the battery lid closed as it pushed the batteries down too far. However, once I got a screwdriver in there to pull the contact up a little it worked fine. Well worth the price! Extra files are also included which is a bonus!

My son is 4 months. His nails got so long, they were more of a danger to me! I couldn’t bring myself to use clippers or bite my sons nails, and this product was recommended by a mum in my NCT group. It’s a fab gadget! My son loves it and able to use when he’s awake. I keep it on the coffee table and reach for it whenever a nail feels a little sharpe.

Almost didn’t buy due to reviews noting the gadget taking skin off baby when using. I have not had this issue at all, and tested vigorously on myself before using on my son. You just need to use the age appropriate file.

If had to criticise, the gadget comes with one replacement file set but after that think will need to buy the whole gadget again! Not very environmentally friendly! This is a big flaw!

This is a great invention! It works great and the nails can be done even when they are asleep. Have to say that is a bit hard to do the corners, and if you don’t do them properly they will scratch you as a cat. But if you do them every couple/3 days they will be fine and no pain and scratches anywhere. So for me this is a thing you need to have if you have a baby.

There’s nothing more sweat provoking than trimming a babies insanely sharp yet somehow thin and bendy nails with traditional clippers… welcome to the show the electric nail file! - I bought it 3 months into trying to battle with the clippers while babies asleep (often with one hand) with limited success - always managed to cut them in a shape that left even sharper edges. This file works really well, is kind on skin, is quick and simple to use and comes with spare file heads. I’ve used it on me (shapes nails really well) and my 5 year old (who found it quite novel). Would definitely recommend.
