ANYTHING GOES ON THIS PITCH!
Aim for victory with teamwork, tackles, table-turning items, and score-boosting Hyper Strikes in Mario Strikers: Battle League Football on Nintendo Switch. Do whatever it takes to win in frantic local multiplayer and team up with other players online to become the world’s top club!

The team who scores the most goals wins, but with crunching Team Tackles flying in and all sorts of items adding to the chaos (not to mention the electric fences containing the carnage), scoring is easier said than done!

MARIO
Always reliable, Mario is a great all-round player with impressive technique.

PEACH
Her high speed and technique make Peach adept at avoiding defenders.

BOWSER
A powerhouse on the pitch, Bowser’s shooting ability is matched only by his brutal tackles.

YOSHI
Yoshi possess superb ball control, with both passing and shooting ability that’ll be indispensable to any team.

TEAMWORK
Eight players can go for the goal on one Nintendo Switch system locally**. With online* or local wireless, a player can bring along a secondary striker on the same system, or pair up with up to three other systems (eight players total).

That game is better in almost every way.
Strikers Battle League on the Switch is not going to be fun unless you can play online or local multiplayer with friends or family. If you live alone or don't have others to play with and will only play against the computer... this game has next to nothing to offer.
Compared to the Wii game, this iteration has:
- No pitch variety or hazards (all pitches just "look" different, they do not PLAY different.)
- No Modifiers (you can't mix up the gameplay with funny things like extra-szppy walls, super charged balls etc)
- No Arcade mode for single player challenges with modifiers for a challenge
- No unique abilities for characters (the old side-kick system has gone, so you can't do funny things like jumping over goalies, or dodging by jumping and slamming a hammer below you)
- No unlockables such as characters, modifiers, pitches (the only things you can unlock are gear that adjusts your character's stats, and that you have to grind the same cup mode over and over again for in-game currency to unlock them.)
- No unique soundtracks and music for characters or pitches. The previous game had themed music with different instruments, whereas all the music in this game is Rock/Metal with just different tunes, not styles.
What the game DOES have is a very deep gameplay system for things like dodging, passing, shooting with lots of precise timing and skill required. That and the combination of gear means that if you care about a skilled game of 4-aside mario football, then you will enjoy the game. Especially if you can play online.
But the fun chaos-filled Mario Strikers is no-where to be seen.
My children stand no chance at all. It’s the most disappointing Mario game I’ve played on the switch personally but could be a lot better if it wasn’t so difficult.
Even tutorials are difficult to complete the tests at the end. Maybe practice will help but for a casual game I can’t see myself investing the time needed to be merely competent
Yes there's so much more in this version including online play, but the actual mechanics and "party" feel of the previous games seems to have been lost in this iteration. The ball is too small and the camera just isn't as good.
Was really looking forward to this but I've only played it a few times. Quite disappointed.
It is good and it is fun but I feel ripped of spending £40 on this.
Having 3 other buddies that brought the game, we were looking forward to destroying children as a team.
Safe to say our Friday night plan was ruined, thanks Nintendo.
