Lycopene’s main health benefit is its antioxidant function. It also has many other health benefits, including sun protection, improved heart health and a lower risk of certain types of cancer. Though it can be found as a supplement, it may be most effective when consumed from lycopene-rich foods like tomatoes. The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a fruit from the nightshade family oddly enough and early settlers in the Americas were certain it was equally poisonous. Thankfully, it was discovered not to be poisonous (I hate to think how). Lycopene is also found in many other fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, grapefruit and carrots.
If you are able to eat all those things regularly it is probably the best way to get it. However, this supplement is easy to take and can also become a part of your daily routine. This is high strength and for that reason, I would say that one capsule per day is plenty.
Antioxidants are molecules that fight free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals build up naturally in response to ageing, but their levels increase due to environmental and behavioural factors like pollution and smoking. By stabilising free radicals, scientists believe that lycopene may reduce the risk of developing chronic illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
While I cannot vouch personally for any of this if you have concerns about these types of diseases you might consider taking this supplement or at least increasing your daily intake of lycopene in its natural forms as described above.

This is an interesting and in my opinion very useful supplement. Lycopene is a caratoid hydro-carbon found in tomatoes, carrots, grapefruit, papaya and and other red fruit and vegetables. Regularly taking Lycopene over a minimum of a three-month period is said to have beneficial effects on the eyes, as it can delay the onset of cataracts and macular degeneration.
In addition, this can help skin photo-sensitivity, and makes the skin less susceptible to sunburn. This could be really useful in those with conditions like lupus whee skin reacts adversely to the slightest kiss of the sun. Its also very good supplement to take about 3 months before going on holiday to a very hot country as it may help prevent you burning to quickly. (you still of course have to take all full precautions using sunscreen).
Lycopene is also very effective antioxidant.
I consider this one of the most important vitamin supplements that you can take, and one that I will always take Anything that can help lrotect your eyes, and protect your skin from the damaging effects of UVA, in my book is a good thing.

Each capsule provides 15mg of lycopene, while the tub recommends 1-2 capsules per day, at a cost of 19p/capsule.

I take this because a number of clinical trials shows that tomato consumption, and in particular the lycopene, can have beneficial effects on the skin's ability to stave off sun damage.

I take two of these per day through the summer and on holiday and, alongside sunscreen, I don't experience any reddening or burning of the skin.

Through winter months and spring months like now, I take just one per day, because there's still UV raining down on us.

I have been taking lycopene supplements for years, and prior to that I would consune a large amount of tomato paste each day during the summer months.

I would highly recommend this to anyone as a little extra defence against UV related damage in addition to your normal sunscreen routine.

I received this item through the Amazon Vine programme.
A useful supplement, particularly if you (like me..) are getting older and things like macular degeneration and prostate problems are of heightened risk.
The capsules appear well made, there were no broken ones or dust in the container I received.
No perceptible aftertaste.
Manufactured in the UK.
I like the letter-box friendly packaging, much better than a round bottle that you have to be home to receive.
Retailing at £22.97 for between two and four months supply depending on dosage, they are rather expensive as I found a very similar product for half that cost by searching the Amazon site, so not the best value for money.
Like all supplementation, do your own research and decide what's best for you.

I started to take these lycopene supplements in order to help my eyes, my eyesight isn’t that great anymore and my eyes seem to be tired all the time. I took 2 capsules a day, with my main meal and I have noticed a difference after taking them for a couple of weeks. The size of capsules is standard and it is easy to swallow them. My eyesight hasn’t approved, which I wouldn’t expect to happen anyway but my eyes don’t feel that tired on daily basis. These huge pack will last me for 6 months and I think it’s excellent value for money for lycopene.
Very happy with these.

I've taken a very similar complex to this for a while now and like my regular one this is great for improving eye health and with everything else in here it's also a great all rounder for a general boost of antioxidants. If you're not sure if this is right for you or not then do research properly first or consult a professional.

If you're already confident about the benefits of a complex like this and know it's the right supplement for you then this is an extremely good value high-strength option as they'll last around 4 months if taken at the recommended minimum of 1 a day (which is enough for me at this strength) or otherwise 2 months if you take two a day, so I'd definitely recommend as it;s pretty good value at the dose I need.
