My set up is dual monitors running vis a laptop CIA a docking station. I prefer to use a mouse than the touch pad and a separate keyboard frees up space on my desk.
Whilst I loved the old one it was “loud” when using compare to the keys on the laptop. This one is silent. They keys are lovely to touch too due to their smooth texture.
Easy to connect to the laptop due to its plug and play feature. Simply insert the dongle into a USB socket and it will automatically install. A word of warning, the dongle is in a slot on the box, not in the mouse battery compartment where it can be sorted securely.
The only negative is that the mouse has a slight squeak (no pun intended) when using the scrolling wheel. Not a massive issue but does spoiler the silent touch nature.
Overall definitely worth buying.
I have seen some reviews that expressed concern about loss of communication between keyboard/mouse and the bluetooth receiver. I did have this problem at first, but moved the little receiver thing using a usb extension lead. I am not sure whether the problem was line of sight or proximity to other wireless devices (cordless home phone, computer bluetooth or wifi) but I do suggest to move it if you are having problems.
On the positive side, both keyboard and mouse have on/off switches to assist with battery life. The keyboard is full size QWERTY with numeric keypad and genuine UK layout. There is a caps lock light but no num lock light. Additional keys above the usual F1 through F12 provide media control (volume up/down/mute and pause/play only) plus quick launch for browser, email and, bizarely, calculator. The additional keys are not programmable.
The keyboard is excellent quality with good positive key presses, ridge marks on the home keys (F and J) all of which makes typing with more than two fingers a good experience. I like that there is no key click.
The mouse is a two-button plus scroll wheel which is also a third button. It is a shame that it is a mini mouse, somewhat smaller than the classic mouse I am used to, but certainly not unusable. It takes some getting used to but if you want to use on a laptop and lug it around, its size could be an advantage. If you do want this kit for mobile use, then I recommend using the holder in the mouse battery compartment to avoid losing it. (Some reviewers did not find this handy little compartment).
Logitech advertise it as lag-free but I disagree. Playing an ancient game of pinball I can confirm the response time is a bit slower, just a fraction, but enough that I cannot time the paddle things, so cannot reccommend for gaming.
Overall if you want a wireless keyboard & mouse set, with a single bluetooth receiver, I recommend this set for all applications except gaming.
This newest version of my old keyboard is brilliant! There is virtually no sound whatsoever, which as a touch-typist is much appreciated because usually there's a lot of clacking going on! I share an office with my husband and now I'm contributing no noise to the room!
I have always appreciated being able to stop/start/mute music from my keyboard, so much quicker when my phone rings than trying to open the music app and use the mouse to click on the controls. I also use the calculator a lot and again, so much easier to just press the button on the keyboard.
All ways around, I highly recommend both the keyboard and mouse combo. For the record I also have a Logitech mouse on its own for my laptop and for the person who's review was negative because of "the ease of losing the wifi widget", IT STORES IN THE MOUSE!!!!! Perfectly safe!
The keyboard’s keys took too much effort to press. It seems the key press doesn’t register unless the key is pushed all the way down, meaning you have to use a fair amount of pressure to ensure a key press. Simple things like pressing Alt Tab, for instance, became difficult, because I had to apply a fair bit of pressure on the left Alt key to get the system would recognise Alt Tab. Often, if the Alt key was partly depressed, the system would think I pressed Tab. Quite frustrating.
To be clear, I’m not sure if this issue affects this particular unit only or affects all models. I gave the unit I received a proper shot for a few days but the problem persisted. So back it’s going.
The keyboard *is* quite silent. Pity it didn’t work out for me as described earlier in the review. I’d really have liked to keep this. With keys that were easier to press, I could see myself recommending this model to people working around other people and needing a quiet, inexpensive keyboard/mouse set.
The mouse worked well (it was a combined keyboard/mouse set). I wouldn’t recommend this mouse to people with large palms, but it worked well for me. Also the mouse buttons were easy to click, unlike the keyboard, and was quite silent as well.
This unit comes with a tiny USB dongle which you plug into your computer. As other reviewers have noted, the device isn’t in the mouse or keyboard — rather it’s attached to a cutout hole in the flap of the cardboard box it comes in. I thought I’d mention that as it’s really easy to miss!
