How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Zero security or prevention. They managed to cut it into pieces at 11:30 am I’m central london. Shouldn’t be advertised as Gold Secure

To be fair I had it for 6 months and used my bike daily to commute. Although it is a great lock that must have resisted many stealing attempts in different places of London, it is possible to cut it. I think that in terms of weight and size it is fine (actually an advantage over the safest model)... So keep your bike in a secure place guys!

The U lock itself is fine, the only problem is that it's too small to lock the frame and back wheel to the bike rack.
Looking at some reviews it is quite worrying how poorly understood this method of locking is.
The U lock should go around the bike frame and ideally the back wheel, if as in this case, the lock is too small, then the U should go around the bike frame and ideally at a point above ground level (or thieves will use the ground as an anchor point for cropping) and not the crossbar ( that can be used in a twist attack).
The cable is utterly useless and is probably best thrown away as it takes seconds to cut.
IMO it would be better to get the standard size series 4 kryptonite lock that has a higher security rating, is large enough to go around the frame, the back wheel and the cycle stand, doesn't include the useless dead weight of the cable and is in fact slightly lighter than this smaller lock and cable combo

I used this bike lock in central London only a few times. Thieves sliced through the lock today while my bike was locked in Regent’s Park. I am really upset, I feel like I paid a premium for this lock thinking you couldn’t cut through it, or at least that it would take such an obtrusive tool to cut through that locking it outside while I was nearby should be OK. I’m posting a photo so you can see how cleanly the thieves cut the lock. Please beware thieves can and do cut this lock.

Good strong lock, slide fixing into the mount need reveiwing as it makes things difficult
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 October 2018Style Name: Evolution Mini 7Configuration: SingleVerified Purchase
Pros:
Very heavy and therefore presumably as strong and secure as it looks.
7/10 (70/100)/ Sold Secure Gold security level means it should be good at keeping you bike secure.
Mount prevents lock shaking and rattling when riding over bumpy surfaces, but overall design could be better (see cons).
Comes with a 1.2m steel cable (not security rated). Some people have commented that is too short but it seems to be a standard length for all locks that come with them I have seen. If you are trying to put both eyes onto the lock then it is too short (by a lock without a cable and a 2m cable), however if you thread one eye through the other around one wheel and pull it through it is just long enough to thread through the other wheel (necessary if both are quick release) and put the other end into the lock (see image) although a slightly longer 1.5m cable would make it a little easier.
Cons:
The following assumes that my bike is a typical size and shape for an adult medium hybrid…
This size lock is both too short and narrow to go around the frame a post and through a wheel, limiting me to securing around the top bar only.
Some locks have an insert and rotate (either lock or collar) 90 degree method of attaching the lock to the mount, this one slides in. Because of this the only place it would mount leaving just enough room to avoid the frame both after insertion and to remove it with my hand around the lock was the underside of the top bar (see images), even then there was barely enough room so it was just as well I did not get a bigger one.
This may be a pariticular issue with the size/shape of my frame, however I do suggest the manufacture look at a non sliding method of attaching the lock to the bike, if the lock was any bigger or the inside of the frame any smaller I would never have been able to mount it on the bike and I suspect that I may not be the only person to encounter this.

Very impressed - the U lock feels very sturdy and locks/unlocks easily. The supplied mount is secure although I was sceptical at first after seeing that the hex bolt is used to tighten around the strap and lock it in place I am confident (and have been out riding to test) that it won't fall off. It's nice to have the mount there if I don't want to put it in a bag.
The cable for securing the back wheel (U lock goes around frame, front wheel and immovable anchor point) is long enough for my (and I should imagine pretty much any) bike - just remember it's not intended to go between both the front and back wheels, only between the back wheel and the Ulock. It is heavy enough to feel substantial but not as heavy as some locks I looked at which is a bonus in terms of carrying it but anyone that gets through the Ulock was having the bike no matter what. Make sure you don't tie the cable around the bike and to an immovable object to secure it as this isn't covered by the warranty and most insurance policies, and will likely result in you finding a cable that's been cut with bolt cutters and no bike when you return.
