I was forced to upgrade to this when my old Paperwhite became unreliable after many years of hard use. On the plus side is a slightly larger screen, the ability to turn on night illumination, and the belated move to USB C with consequent faster charging. The one negative is that if you use it in landscape mode it's far too easy to turn a page accidentally by touching the frame (not the screen itself) on what is its right hand side in this mode. It should ideally be less sensitive.

I love this Paperwhite reader. My wife has had one for years. I used to use my Kindle Fire as a reader, but it’s difficult to read outside in any light, and almost impossible in bright sunlight. So I got a Paperwhite for myself to use as an outside reader. Now I don’t use the Fire at all as a reader as I like the Paperwhite so much. If a reader for outside (or inside) is what you’re looking for, look more further.

This was purchased as the battery life on my old one (Feb 2015) requires charging more and more frequently, although it still functions perfectly well. I now have Bluetooth for my ear pods to listen to audio books (which I don't really like anyway). Like all "upgraded" kit, it gets more fussy to operate and to no real advantage (to me). All that aside, I wouldn't be without one now. I read a lot and I don't need a trunk for my library when I go away nor a room for storage at home. If there is a downside, it is that you cannot share your books with your friends and illustrations in books (maps especially) are unreadable.

This kindle would not connect to my Virgin router even when I changed all the settings, it did connect to EE network for a short time then it stopped downloading, then on returning the bundle I received a email from Amazon saying the cover was not included so they reduced the amount of the refund?
Don’t bother if is obvious that there is a major problem with their software. It of course could be the I was just unlucky with the unit supplied.
