Another tragedy, that's what.
When I was six years old, my father made a choice that altered the course of my entire life.
Because of what he did, the only girl I ever loved became the only girl I couldn’t have.
In a lot of ways, I did have her…
I had her first steps, her first words, her first smile. I had her milestones, her heartbreaks, her dreams. I had her heart so woven in with mine, I didn’t know where she ended, and I began.
Only, as the years pressed on, lines became blurred—and the blurrier the line, the easier it is to cross.
They say tragedy comes in threes.
For me, that was true.
The first one changed me, the second one broke me, and the third one healed me.
But at the center of all that tragedy… there is a love story.
And at the center of that love story,
There is June.

About the author

Jennifer Hartmann resides in northern Illinois with her devoted husband, Jake, and three children, Willow, Liam, and Violet. When she is not writing angsty love stories, she is likely thinking about writing them. She enjoys sunsets (because mornings are hard), bike riding, traveling anywhere out of Illinois, binging Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns, and that time of day when coffee gets replaced by wine. Jennifer is a wedding photographer with her husband and an avid skincare junkie. She is excellent at making puns and finding inappropriate humor in mundane situations. She loves tacos. She also really, really wants to pet your dog. Xoxo.

I went in to this book with high expectations as I’ve read most is not all of Jennifer’s book’s, and no surprise I wasnt let down quite the opposite. This is a beautifully tragic and up lifting coming of age story. Although I would solely categorise this book as a coming of age story as it is so much more I feel like at the heart of it that it what it is. We follow Brant, Theo and June from earlier childhood until they grow into there own. The characters have such depth and grow so much through out the book you truly feel like your there. This book truly out did my high expectations it’s a book about family & friends, bravery & courage, love and loss and utter tragedy and how our character are shaped and grow in the aftermath of unbearable pain. It’s about all the little moments the remarkable and unremarkable but non the less important, how all these moments make up the past, that give life to the present and await us in the future. 100% recommended be ready for all the feels, the ups the down, the highs and the lows. Don’t forget the tissues you’ll be needing them.
It spans such a long period of time, I love books like this where you feel like you really know the characters.
I will never look at rainbows and not think of June and Brant. The same for bluebirds and stuffed elephants.
‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ will forever make me think about this book.
Stunning, really stunning.
This book broke my heart in more ways then one and then remade it all again.
I discovered Jennifer with still beating and have devoured her books since then. Honestly she is an author I have fallen in love with and has made it onto the list of favoured authors x
Enjoy this book guys it’s amazing x
