Where there's a flea, an infestation could quickly follow
Just killing the fleas on your pets is not enough; 95% of the flea life cycle takes place in your pet’s bedding and home surroundings such as carpets, soft furnishings, etc.
To prevent re-infestation, you must break the life cycle. Johnson’s produce a range of effective flea control products, including household treatments, some containing IGR (Insect Growth Regulators) which help to prevent flea eggs hatching.

The Flea ProblemFleas are small, brown, mobile insects which bite the skin and suck blood. They breed rapidly, often unnoticed and can quickly cause a major problem for pets. They can infest your home and will feed on humans. |
Fleas & Your PetDogs and cats usually become infested from contact with other animals, including wildlife such as birds, rodents etc., particularly during summer and autumn months. Prompt treatment is necessary, as flea bites cause severe irritation and pets often become allergic to flea saliva, leading to inflamed skin, sores and loss of coat. |
Signs of Flea InfestationConstant scratching or biting of coat, twitching of back muscles, also skin and coat problems. Fleas and ‘flea dirt’ (tiny black droppings) may be seen when the coat is examined closely or combed out over damp paper, when a small reddish circle will form around the black spots. Flea bites on humans can be seen as small red spots up to 2.5cm (1 inch) apart. |

Fleas in Your HomeFleas feed on dogs and cats, but spend most of their life cycle in pet bedding, carpets, rugs, furnishings, etc. A serious infestation can quickly occur in summer months and even in winter, in warm homes with central heating and fitted carpets. |
WormsFleas are carriers of tapeworm eggs and are a major cause of worm infestation in dogs and cats. |
Life Cycle of the FleaIn warm conditions, the cycle can be completed in only 3 weeks, but may take up to 1 year or more. To prevent re-infestation, it is necessary to break the life cycle. |

Your PetA range of flea tablets, drops, shampoos, aerosols, pump sprays and powders are available. These include our highly acclaimed Veterinary Strength 4fleas range. |
Prevention4fleas Protector offers year-round protection against flea infestation. This easy spot-on treatment protects your pet for up to 5 months. |
Your HomeHousehold flea sprays, room foggers and carpet flea powders reduce the risk of re-infestation. Products containing an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) are most effective in helping to break the life cycle of the flea. |

We fed her the tablet at 6, we gave up combing around 9.30. Her pupils were still dilated the day after and it was probably another day before she returned to her normal self.
The panting and erratic behaviour is scary, there's no doubt, but to get around 60 fleas off her it was worth it.
Bear in mind we had never seen a flea on her, I was shocked at how many there were.
The tablet worked brilliantly but I think I would only give her half next time, (comments on here say 1mg per kilo, tablet is 11mg or so ) even if it meant repeating the dose the day after .
My cat had a flea collar on and spot on treatment. The spot on stuff I used was made by a company called Armitage, it obviously offered no protection. My cat now has Advantage spot on treatment and after combing her we found no fleas a week later.
I have a cat that barely scratches and appears completely free of fleas....... unfortunately I am still itching from writing this
2 days ago I noticed the kittens sratching more than usual and decided to help them out a little with their grooming. I kept finding what looked like little coal dust in their fur and didnt think anything of it at the time just picked out what I could for 15 minutes. One of my daughters insisted that she saw a "Fly" on one of the kittens only for the rumour to be dismissed by my wife and me.
Then as I was laying down next to the kitten playing a few hours later I noticed 2 Fleas running over her paw areas and disappearing into her fur. Served me right for not listening to my kid!
I'm not really grossed out by anything at all but with so many kids in the house and not to mention the irritation the kittens must be feeling I couldn't help but feel super itchy just knowing they were there. This brought me to research the products out there on the market to treat kittens specifically due to their young age. I was getting super frustrated as a fair few of the products are not suitable for kittens under 12 weeks old. After reading tons of blogs and reviews on here I decided I would give these ago. Was very sceptical at first due to the fact that some of the feedback on here stated that these do not work at all. Eventually came across these and ordered using my Prime Membership for the same day delivery. They arrived on time but late evening so prepped the house as much a possible.
Hoovered the house the next morning, luckily we have laminate floor and a few large rugs. Rolled the rugs up and stored them away for a few hours.
On reading a lot of reviews I was fully expecting to be torn to pieces by the kittens and bitten into oblivion. To avoid all this I took a thick pair of my storts and places one kitten at a time in the leg section and gently wrapped their front legs binding them close to their bodies. (Think swaddling a baby).
I tried for about 10 minutes to gently press the pill against the side of the kitten's mouth. They both kept pretending to be asleep! Both put on their ZZZZZzzzzzz Face. Kept gently persisting and eventually Kitten one took one on the mouth only to promtly spit it out. Fast forward 20 minutes and I feel like im stuck in a time loop. Same thing again and again.
Being the scientific person that I am I started to look at this logically. I was attempting to do this having the kitten sitting on my lap. So thought to myself this is a matter of physics I need gravity to assist me here, therefore i flipped the kitten on to its back and almost at the first attempt she tried to spit it out again only for it to fall gently down her throat and she swallowed it. I grabbed the other kitten and tried again and on the second attempt exactly the same success.
And now...........we wait. I again didn't believe that the stuff would start working as quickly as it says on the box. 15 minutes but sure enough after about 15 the fleas literally start dropping off. The kittens both started scratching and grooming like mad and in the space of about 15 minutes a had picked up almost 20 fleas a mixture of adult and juveniles. Secured the kittens in the fully laminated floored room and used one of the babies baby wipes to chuck the sluggish fleas on to. Then would smash the little blighters with the tail end of a bamboo brush to end their life quickly. Once the wipe was dotted with 25 or so red blotches I used another fresh wipe to wipe the kittens down and caught a few more in the wipe. Then sat with them for about 45 and followed them around picking up the fleas as they dropped off due to the kittens cleaning themselves.
An hour and a half or so after administering a had caught and killed almost 70 fleas between the two of them and they were visibly more happy and comfortable.
I was so impressed with results decided to update you guys with the results. I will be repeating the process again tomorrow to make sure we have got as many as possible and will be hoovering everything an washing their bedding etc in a hot wash.
My Summary
Swaddle the Kittens/Cat before trying to feed them the pills.
Use wet Wipes to contain the Fleas
The people that claim that these don't work most likely didn't actually get their kitten or cat to swallow the pill. They are tiny and easily lost.
Where at all possible do not do this on a carpet and if you must keep you hover to hand as soon as you see the little blighters.
I believe these kittens caught fleas (though I cant be 100% sure) from a cat tree we bought from a local charity shop the day after we got them as they didnt itch before that. So my last free tip is before buying cats anything soft furnished a touch clean before introducing it to them.
I will update with the progress if anything changes
I ordered some frontline, but this caught my eye, having read the reviews and already taking the tip to crush and share with a treat! I thought okay I will give it a try, but surely seeing fleas drop off that quickly will not be possible?
Tablets arrived, crushed into tuna and fed to cat! what happened next was scary, within 45 minutes fleas were literally poring out of the cat, loads around the cats face, cat was going mad scratching and itching, the cat was panting, which was making me feel very guilty! I couldn't believe how many etc.
As some others said best stay with the cat to help keep it came, I spent the time picking up dead or dying fleas, or removing them front my long hair cat, top tip for you have some baby wipes near you, the are good at keeping fleas put! As the first hour or so passed I kept combing the cat, two hours or so later the cat had calmed down, no more signs of dead fleas, Cat flopped in a corner and slept for 8 hours in the same place.
24 hours later the cat is flea free and very calm!
