Bought these to store frozen food whilst defrosting a freezer. I usually run the food down before carrying out this task but hadn't done so this time and the freezer was heavily iced up, so I needed to try to keep the food frozen whilst the freezer was defrosting. These bags provided the answer. I included a couple of freezer ice blocks to each bag to help prevent the food thawing. It worked OK; after about 3 (maybe 4) hours the food did not stay completely hard solid frozen but it was fine to return to the freezer and no food needed to be binned. Will use again.

As with a number of items, some of the star ratings are unanswerable until the product has been given 'reasonable' use for a 'normal' period off time.
Size and sturdiness can, reasonably, be assessed upon delivery; durability cannot, as by the definition of the word, it can only be assessed after what may be deemed 'normal wear and tear'.
I use them for normal shopping as well as my weekly trips to the local frozen food store, where I buy around half a dozen large bags of frozen vegetable, and bought these as a replacement for my old freezer bag which lasted me for around 8 - 10 years, until it gave out a couple of weeks ago, and is no longer available, which will be my guideline for these.

Excellent bags and - unlike so many - not a logo or ghastly graphic to be seen!

For many years I've had some top class Waitrose bags (although I haven't actually shopped in Waitrose for years because there isn't one near me any more), which were tough, durable (obviously) and sturdy. Recently, however, they finally gave up the ghost and I was thereby forced to find an alternative.

These bags differ from the Waitrose ones in two main respects: firstly they have 'soft' handles rather than the fabric-covered wood ones of the Waitrose bags, and secondly these bags have an insulating lining whereas the Waitrose bags (except for the coolbag) had plastic-covered cardboard liners which allowed the bags to be folded.

The handles don't seem to make a difference either way and I'm happy with the soft handles on these bags. Don't worry, by the way, that the handles are too long - as I was, looking at the picture - because they're actually just the right length.

The insulated lining of these bags are much better than the Waitrose ones. The Waitrose linings were white and so soon showed stains from fruit and vegetables etc. which made the bags look a touch daggy quite soon in their life. Also, the Waitrose bag linings were fixed to the sides of the bags by Velcro, so as to allow the linings to be collapsed when the bags were folded - and the Velcro also gave up long before the bags did. This was annoying because I'd end up struggling to get the linings to stay up while frantically trying to keep up with the checkout stream.

The silver linings of these bags, on the other hand, look smart, wash easily, and need no fixing because they're integral to the bag. The fact that the linings also make the bag insulated is a big bonus because I no longer have to worry about fitting everything cold into one coolbag or leaving it half empty while overfilling the other bags.

This is a very good price, too, for such excellent bags.

I'm on here ordering two more sets!

These are excellent value. Quite a large square shaped bad. We gave one to our daughter as she had an old one she brought back from her time in NZ. It is very sturdy and the straps go around the bag. Foil lined as you would expect. We manage to get all our cold items and vegetables in this one bag for a weekly shop for 2 adults. The only down side we have is that because we store this bag, folded inside our other shopping bags, when we get to the check out and unfold it, it want to collapse bag to its folded state, so becomes a bit of a challenge to keep it open in the trolley until we get some items in it to fill it out and help it stay open.

Like many I'm sure, we've reverted to having our food shops delivered directly to the front-door. Our chosen outlet has started to deliver the food without bags to save on plastic, which is completely understandable. The small downside to that is the fact you now have to pack your food in bags to carry it all inside.

Long story short, I can now put everything inside just two bags without the fear that the contents are too strong or heavy. The handles are fantastic, the fabric is really durable and the bags themselves keep their structure very well when unfolded. The added bonus is that the bags are also lined with insulation, so you could even use these as a space-saving picnic holder if you wanted to. Overall, highly recommended!

This purchase was inspired by insulated reusable shopping bags that some supermarkets offer which are super strong and have a great capacity. I wanted some black ones as they were neutral and didn’t have branding of any sort. The day they arrived we had an impromptu trip to the beach, which was a great opportunity to test these out. We took ice creams with us and these stayed solid until the end of our trip which was a complete winner. Strength-wise they can hold a lot without showing signs of straining at the seams and joints. All in all a great buy and they make me feel excited to pack and unpack my groceries.
