I always get what I want.
And she’s my obsession.
Cora is new to the city of sin.
Her innocent blue eyes beg for me to claim her.
But I’m not the billionaire she thinks I am.
There’s a darkness within me.
And Cora is a shining light.
She’s beautiful. A virgin.
I’m ruthless. A beast.
She found me for a reason.
She’ll be my queen.
I’ll give her everything that her heart desires.
Except for one thing.
Her freedom.
She’s mine to keep, and I’m never letting her go.
Note: This is a dark mafia romance with dark and intense sensual scenes. It is the first in a trilogy.

Stasia grew up in Texas, recently spent a freezing five-year stint in Minnesota, and now is happily planted in sunny California, which she will never, ever leave. She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and going to concerts any time she can manage.
Stasia’s drawn to romantic stories that don’t take the easy way out. She wants to see beneath people’s veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Basically, she wants to create characters that make readers alternately laugh, cry ugly tears, want to toss their kindles across the room, and then declare they have a new FBB (forever book boyfriend).

Give this book a chance. It is a great series and I come to love the characters. They take long to learn and grow from their mistakes, and it can be super annoying to read, especially in the first book, but it's worth it. This quickly became one of my favourite series.
The first book is I'd say is slow moving but I promise you it gets better. So glad I continued instead of giving up like I almost did! Great development.

Spoilers about their relationship as I wish I had known this when I started.
I love books where the guy is cold and closed off, but he softens and let's her in etc. This book isn't the case so far, it's the opposite. First the powerful man was nice to her in ways we can only dream of a guy being to us. But it is all false. He is after revenge and so he pretends to like her in order for her to marry him so then he can abuse her (sexually - like dom/sub) in order to get submission from her as his form of revenge. Of course he has developed some feelings for her and when we hear his side you can tell he cares for her. But I struggle to get through the book waiting for this abuse to end and for him to treat her right...if that will ever even happen.
Cora is a difficult character to tolerate. She submits far to easily to him and has no fight in her. When she is fighting it's at the wrong times, such as when she wants the toilet. However when it comes to sexually things she doesn't say no or fight him, and I wish she would.
Theres just something about it that makes it hard to read but hopefully it gets better as I continue! I'd love to actually see a stable and healthy relationship between them.
Sweet predictable romance and then you hit the curveball. The curveball iis great but what happens after not so great. Can I be honest I'm so over the dominance theme, it's been done to death. I get why but really it took away the power from the plot.
It continues on with more predictability and ends with a cliffhanger.
Good characters and dialogue with a simple storyline. The saving factor is the curveball, loved this element.
Cora is his opposite, in every way. She is innocence. Naive, soft, caring and oblivious to the violent world.
Together, they are amazing! That coatroom scene...!!
I love that we get to see Cora's defiant side and to see the push and pull.
