Boredom and curiosity prompted me to download it onto my Kindle and it was pure joy. A brilliant, funny story, very well written with clarity and attention to detail. I loved the fact that the author had done his homework and used his knowledge to tell us how dogs think - maybe I’ll ponder the wisdom of bathing my own little dog with apple scented shampoo!
It’s a story with a little magic, a loyal dog, a kind boy and good friends. Add to that a pair of villains of almost pantomime proportions and it’s a book that will surely delight children and adults alike. Perfect for reading aloud, my only regret is that I bought the kindle edition. Though the story was still excellent, I think the book version with those glorious illustrations would be even better.
I bought this kindle edition for me, but I’m going to buy the real thing for my favourite family for Christmas.
Read and enjoy. Ben Miller, you’ve lightened a grey, rainy day for me. Thank you.
PS. This review requires me to say how old (in years) is the person I got this book for. As the scale ended with 13+ and I am retired it doesn’t quite match, but the hard back copy will be going to 4 young people aged 4 - 9 and their parents.
