Review
The original Hairy Dieters was a massive - if slightly unexpected - success... This new volume picks up where the first book finishes and is crammed with delicious, nutritious recipes, well photographed in colour. It also contains some simple words of wisdom about how to eat to lose weight and then keep the weight off ― EASTERN DAILY PRESS
brilliant book ― THE SUN
If you're a fan of Strictly, you'll see the impressive results of Hairy Biker Dave Myers's weight loss regime. The follow-up to the popular first book, The Hairy Dieters, is The Hairy Dieters Eat for Life. The recipes are clever, you don't even realise that they're low-calorie (although the calorific value of a portion is listed on each recipe) and it means you can carry on enjoying your food while hopefully losing the pounds. ― CHOICE
Having dropped pounds and risen to the top of the bestsellers list with their first diet cookbook, the duo deliver a second collection of low-fat recipes. There are lots of healthy makeovers, including Cornish pasties, pot pies and fishcakes. ― BBC GOOD FOOD

About the authors
Si King hails from North East England and is a big, blond bearded biker with an infectious laugh. His love of food was established at a young age when his father bought exotic ingredients back from his Royal Navy voyages.
Born and bred in Barrow-in-Furness, Dave Myers joined the BBC as a make-up artist, and while travelling the world with hit TV series he picked up recipes with Si, Dave's travelling companion and the other half of the hairy bikers.

The end result of cooking these recipes has been well received within my family. They are full of flavour every single time. It is not at all evident that this is "diet" food and I would be happy to serve the dishes at dinner parties, for example.
I was looking to lose approximately 1 stone, and in 3 weeks have already lost 6lbs. I feel full of energy and enthusiasm because I know we won't get bored of eating the meals from the Hairy Dieters cookbook.
The books themselves contain beautiful images of the food, and they are punctuated with humour and useful common sense tips.
I can't recommend this book enough.
To date, everything I've made has been very tasty.
As for the book itself, I found the organisation less than wonderful. Whatever happened to sections for soups, mains, desserts etc? "Meals with Mates" and "Fab Fakeaways" may sound TV cool, but they don't help when you're looking for the soup recipe that was tucked in among completely different dishes. And the back index is often no help. They have entries for some of the ingredients, but not all, so if you want to find the fish recipes, you either have to remember the exact name, or page through until you run across it. No Fish category in a cookbook index, and yet "Mayonnaise" and "Onions" get categories to themselves? What is the "logic" behind this? Probably the same "logic" that deemed that categories should be printed in lower case, making them even harder to search through.
Poor editorial planning makes this book harder to use than it needs to be. Too much gloss, too little practicality for 5 stars.
What Dave and Si do is find ways to make the every day recipes that we all love healthier and lower in calories.
The book covers all sorts of meals such as breakfasts, salads, "fakeaways", one pots and casseroles and desserts.
I've never bought a cook book where there were so many things that I a) wanted to make and b) actually looked simple enough to make on a regular basis.
This book has definitely assisted me in my quest for healthier eating and since I have started using this as a guide for my meals my weight loss has certainly stepped up which I do not believe is a coincidence.
If you have ever tried low calorie cooking, the principles here are much the same.
However the recipies are tasty and you have less of the 'deprived' feeling after eating than some low calorie cookbooks.
I always say if you get only one recipie you like it's worth the cost of the book.
I haven't tried them all yet by any means - but have found one cracker already.
Our new family favourite is their tortilla pizza - and so easy to make.
It is divided into sections based on mealtimes - and rather introducing lots of new recipies - simply takes a new slant on the old favourites. Like a Porridge based breakfast - or a cooked breakfast.
I think just trying these breakfasts would be painless for both the cook and the 'eater'.
The dialogue is simple and the pictures are plentiful and bright. I like plenty of pictures in a recipie book - and this one doesn't suffer at all for being in Kindle format.
