1.Gently squeeze the pump to force air out.	2.Invert the flange, place on your breast with your nipple centred in the middle of the neck.	3.Return the flange, slightly let the pump go until you begin to feel suction.	4.Maintaining a full seal of contact with your breast, then start expressing.

Breast Pump Instructions:

1. Sterilise your pump by boiling in water for 2-3 minutes.

2. Place the pump flange over your nipple – make sure your nipple is centred comfortably in the neck of the pump.

3. Once the pump is secure and comfortable, apply suction by squeezing the base of the pump to start the flow of milk - you may need to adjust the position of your pump a couple of times. Once milk begins to flow, simply leave the pump alone to do its thing!

4. When the pump is full, empty into a glass storage bottle and reposition on your breast.

Tips:

Encourage let-down by placing a warm flannel on top of your breast and massaging gently. While your child is feeding, attach your Haakaa pump to the other breast to catch precious milk that would otherwise be lost in a nursing pad. Store milk in the refrigerator for up to three days. Make sure to label your milk with a date and only fill the container 3/4 full to allow room for milk to expand.

I rarely leave a review but it’s an absolutely brilliant product. It saves me hours by not having to use and clean the electric pump . My midwife told me to use to catch the let down from the other breast by feeding but I also get a fair amount out (50ml) if I use it when I’m not feeding. If you don’t succeed with it first try to reposition it so the nipple is right in the middle. One suction and it’s on and a few min later it’s all done. Brilliant product.

I don’t often bother with reviews but I had to for this. I love my haakaa - I wish it had existed when I had my first baby. I’ve not been successful using electric pumps and found the whole process stressful, trying to fit in pumping sessions (and then cleaning and sterilising all the parts) around feeds and only getting a few ml at a time. Plus I was stuck to the sofa as I needed to be near a socket.

With the haakaa, it’s so much easier. There’s much less faffing with set up, it’s much more comfortable (it’s one size fits all/most so you don’t need to worry about different flange sizes and pain), and it’s so passive - I just stick it on and then feed my baby from the other side. I could theoretically do it anywhere, or if the coronavirus renders the country in a Walking Dead style post-apocalypse era with no power.

I’m not getting litres of milk out, but I’m on day 4 of using and got 2oz in one session, with no effort involved. I plan to build a low effort stash up to freeze, or keep a bottle in the fridge for my partner to help at night.

This probably isn’t suitable if you want to exclusively pump, but if like me you’re a bit lazy but would like to build up some reserves and help a little with your supply, then I’d definitely recommend that you give this a go, especially for the price. As it’s so affordable, I’m going to buy a second so that I’ve always got a clean and sterilised pump available.

A couple of tips:
- Invert the flange before attaching for a better fit and stronger suction
- pop in an empty mug to avoid it getting knocked over
- if you have an older or more active baby you might want to wear a pumping bra at the same time to make sure the pump stays on. The suction is strong and hasn’t fallen off for me, but an older baby may be able to grab it or kick it off
- you’ll get best results if you use the haakaa to catch milk from a letdown while you nurse on the other side. If you use it when baby isn’t nursing, you might not get much out
-if you don’t feel you’re getting much out, try repositioning the haakaa (either by just taking off and reattaching, or changing the angle) to stimulate different ducts. You could also try massage and hot flannels.

This is amazing. Used an electric pump with my first and it broke just after my second baby was born. Heard the amazing reviews so purchased this. Best thing is how little room it takes up in the cupboard. I don’t express too often but found this works really well when feeding, baby on one boob and this on the other. Never tried it when not feeding So dunno if it would work as well then. Also probably not ideal if you are pumping every feed. Great for out and about thought as fits in your bag easily and could even discreetly pump under a shawl

Unreliable suction

The idea is great but unfortunately it doesn't really work for us. It's comfortable to attach and effectively collects the let down from the side you're not feeding from. Unfortunately the suction just isn't reliable and it falls off very easily. The slightest knock will dislodge it and when it gets full the weight seems to make it worse. When you're breastfeeding it's a bit stressful having to worry about the pump and I felt like I needed to hold it in place constantly. Breast shells that sit in your bra are much more comfortable and effective.
Also it was virtu impossible to remove from the packaging!

Would totally recommend this. So simple to use, all you do is place on your other breast while your baby is feeding, and leave there to collect the milk while you feed. It sunctions and stays in place- you don’t even have to hold it. You literally won’t believe how much you get, I think I am actually getting the same if not more from this compared with my electric pump. And this is without the annoying noise of an electric one; it doesn’t use any energy and it’s very easy to clean. I would recommend also buying a stopper to reduce the risk of spills. Also buy some freezer bags and just collect some milk each time you feed, pop in fridge or freezer for when you need a break! Pretty much zero effort or stress.
