The concept of the book is great - baked recipes with about 3-5 ingredients.
There is a great array of recipes and they look so tasty.
However, each recipe I've tried just DOESN'T WORK!
I'm so disappointed as I really wanted to like this book. Despite following the ingredients, quantities and method, there is just something about these that doesn't make them pleasant.
For example, I made:
-Creamy Cheesecake Cookies
The picture looked divine. However, it didn't make sense to pre-heat the oven, and then put the batter to chill in the fridge for an hour...
When baked, I had to bake these for much longer than specified, and even then when on the edge of browning, they were more like cake texture.
-Chocolate Hazelnut Brownie Bites
3 ingredients made it sound very easy. These were made in cake cases as advised, but I did them way less (less than half!) the time specified, otherwise they would have burned... and even then, they were still really DRY.
I hope this isn't the same for other recipes as I continue... such a shame as I really want to like this book!
That being said I will always follow her Instagram page & I will probably buy books in future as the first one is so difficult to get right.
All the recipes are so easy to follow, with little hints, tips and flavour swaps to try providing endless fun.
The design of the book is beautiful and amazingly thought out, with a picture with every recipe.
It’s a great first baking book for people of all ages, with super easy recipes; most using only 3, 4 or 5 ingredients, and once you’ve mastered those there’s also some all star bakes to try too!
It’s the perfect gift for anyone who wants to bake… kids, newbie or pro.
