I have to admit I wasn't sure the isis thing could be done without the same old terrorism material but again I was pleasantly surprised. I was gripped start to finish. I like the fact it was a lot more in depth about mi5 and mi6 inner workings. Still the best author out there. Stephen is pure class and the research that goes into his books is 10 out of 10. I just get disappointed when I read the spider books in a couple of days and a whole year to wait for the next.
I recommend this if you like terrorism books and I also recommend if you haven't read any spider shepherd books start from book 1. They will keep you busy during lock downs without a doubt.

Mr Leather could make directions to a toilet an adventure! Loved the story line, even the peripheral aspect were made interesting.
I like the way the author gives evidence of what he sees happening to this country at the moment.
I have little doubt parts of this story has happened and will again.
Maybe I missed something but, where did Spider get the mobile to text the MI6 agent when they had all been told to leave their mobiles in the van?
Looking forward to the next book.

I've really enjoyed this series of books, but this was not one of the best and the ending was a damp squib. The reference at the end is 'onwards and upwards'; I hope this refers to the next Shepherd book!

Don't get me wrong, there are excellent aspects to the story and some decent characters but this is over shadowed by some rinse-repeat, distracting background references as asides (e.g. Spetsnaz not being well trained, the 'sound guys from 658 Sqn', or different beards) and Spider's son's new GF which is unfortunate.

I finished the book as I like the series, but I'd think carefully before reading another.

I have read all 18 Spider Shepherd books and enjoyed everyone this being no exception. Two bombs explode in London one kills the head of MI6 and appears to have been initiated by an MI6 agent and Spider is tasked with getting to the bottom of the situation. Spider assembles a team becomes involved in tracking the culprits, and the pace never falters. His family life is always a good secondary plot and I look forward to future additions to the series.

The book starts with a bang and the action remains at a great pace throughout. I love how Dan and Liam's relationship is blossoming, the blasts from the past are always welcome, and the new important characters are well fleshed out.

I do love spider ...in this book there is an operation to take out some terrorist, it doesn’t go exactly to plan, and spider is called in to help out. The story is great, the characters are believable, there are plenty if new ones and a few old friends. The plot I can believe, might happen
Loved it, read it in two sittings and cant wait for the next one bur when will Liam get his own series?

Without a lot of clues, Spider chases the source of the Semtex across a host of dodgy dealers in Turkey and the Middle East. This is a typical outing for Spider and was an enjoyable read.
