85-90% of a Rabbit's Diet Should be Hay Feeding hay and fresh grass is really important. It's essential for dental health as rabbits’ teeth continually grow and chewing good quality hay will help wear them down. The indigestible fibre also keeps a rabbit’s gut moving reducing the risk of gut stasis and bloat.	Move Away from Muesli When offered muesli diets rabbits are likely to select the high starch and sugary elements of the food leaving the higher fibre pieces: this is called selective feeding and results in rabbits eating an unbalanced diet. Selective feeding can increase the risk of dental disease, gut stasis and fly strike.	Treats are Good for Emotional Health Nature snacks can be fed in small amounts either by hand to help bonding, left in housing to keep your rabbits occupied or sprinkled through feeding hay to encourage foraging. Directions:

Remember that good quality hay and/or grass should make up the majority of your rabbits’ diet and should be available at all times. Rabbits should also be fed a small amount of leafy greens each day. Please talk to your vet for further information. If you are currently feeding a muesli-style food to your rabbits you should gradually transfer them onto a hay and nugget-based feeding plan over a period of between 14 and 28 days. You can do this by gradually reducing the amount of muesli and increasing the proportion of nuggets until they have completely replaced the mix. Always monitor your rabbits’ weight to ensure a healthy weight. Make sure fresh, clean water is available for your rabbits.

A decent food supplement for a rabbit.

Percy, my adult rabbit seems to enjoy these Burgess Excel nuggets with mint. But then, most rabbits would enjoy nuggets that are high in sugar compared with straight hay. Just like in common with humans rabbits prefer high sugar to what is really healthy. The critical point of any food is that it is high in fibre. There are 2 types of fibre one is not absorbed by the body whilst the other is. From the packaging you might think that Burgess was one of the higher recipe in terms of fibre content. On the face of it it beats another well-known brand it is only when you understand that it is not comparing the same thing. I think this is a bit misleading lumping it altogether as beneficial fibre. There is an explanation on the pack in small print but I doubt many people will read that. They simply say that it says 39% Other brands state their crude fibre which will inevitably be lower. It also claims that it's healthy for his teeth. Whilst I agree that it's certainly healthier than rabbit muesli, it really can't compare with Timothy hay when it comes down to wearing down teeth. To burgesses credit they at least tell you that you should not forget feeding hay. As for the claim about how many vets endorse the product I'd like to know how they know that. Did they approach all vets to ask them? Do they get a commission if they endorse the product?

I have a VERY picky eater who would rather go on hunger strike than even touch something she doesn't like. Unfortunately, the brand that we finally - and exhaustedly - found she liked has disappeared and no longer exists... Nightmare! So it was with some trepidation I bought this to try and... Straight away she went for it, happily munching away, adding a little binkey after stuffing her face!
There's a much better smell to it than other bags we've tried, and the pellets are not as crumbly as others nor are they puffed up with air. The only drawback is that there's quite a bit of dust from broken pellets at the bottom of the bag, which she refuses to eat even though it's exactly the same stuff as the pellets, just no longer in pellet shape.

Burgess Excel and Science Selective are the best rabbit food brands that you can feed them. I've always gotten them this flavour of Burgess and they go absolutely mad for it! This 10kg bag lasted my 2 rabbits for about 4/5 months. I feed them 4 tbsp a day each. So 8 tbsp a day for the both of them and this bag lasts forever! The mint scent is nice, so doesn't make where it's stored stink of pet food. The nutrient content is great and doesn't contain any nasties that rabbits can't digest properly. I like that the pellets are smallish so there's not really any potential choking issues. Which is a real concern seeing the way my rabbits scoff this down! They go mental even when I'm near their bowls or the bag so I think that says it all!

I've been purchasing this product long enough to know it's quality; I have many rabbits and they all go crazy for this food!! It's £22.50 in Pets at Home which is simply bonkers, so purchasing it on Amazon and having it delivered every month has not only saved me money but also eases the mind knowing the food will be coming straight to the door along with a handy reminder that it's been dispatched, it's on its way and it has been delivered. Will be adding another delivery on in the new year! The animals love it and it was recommended by the vet as the best food out there. Recommend.

I bought this as the PetsatHome web site had a 5 day wait on click and collect on our rabbits usual nuggets. 5 days for delivery, fair enough. 5 days for click and collect? Unacceptable. Ordered this on Amazon and it was delivered the next day. That's more like it.

I've fed our rabbits a smaller amount over the last few days, as it's a minor change of diet. They wolf it down so it must taste ok. I've also checked their poo. I'm no poo expert, but it looks the same size, colour & consistency. I was going to compare side-by-side pre and post-nugget-change poo, but I thought that would be going too far.

I'm happy that digestion and downstairs movements are working ok. Will buy again when it runs out.

Our rabbits go crazy for this stuff. We used to use Russel rabbit brand food but they would get runny poops, we thought it was because we were feeding them too many veggies but, then one day I thought it was perhaps they weren't getting enough fibre. Turns out Russel rabbit food wasn't high in fibre and so we switched to this. They haven't had runny poops since. I highly recommend this food as a good source of fibre for your bunnies.
