I am very disappointed with this purchase. I chose this brand as they generally try to minimise plastic/waste and have a greener image and we like their un-scented laundry liquid and other products.
I then open this box (cardboard) to find all the tablets individually wrapped in plastic! Imagine the disappointment....
Nowhere in the description does it mention this plastic! And to be honest I didn’t even think about looking at previous reviews as I blindly put my trust in this brand I guess. Didn’t even cross my mind until I opened the box. (My mistake I know, but still). I almost always research though, before buying things, and I will definitely NOT buy again before they change this! Such a stupid amount of useless non-recyclable plastic that has to go in the bin now...

I think a lot of people don't quite realise how caustic dishwasher tablets are. Think about it... When you're washing plates by hand you use washing up liquid and scrubbers. You scrub scrub scrub at the plates until they come clean.

Inside a dishwasher, it's really just splashing a little hot water at the plates. It's not scrubbing them, and it's not hosing them down with a powerful jet, it's just dribbling water down them. So, how do they get the plates so clean? Because the tablet is horribly corrosive, and eats through anything biological. So you can imagine what happens when those chemicals get out into the water system... Fish are biological, as are frogs, plants and so on. So, it's always a good idea to try to reduce the amount of these chemicals we put into the water system. It's also why we don't want kids eating them. The block would literally start to dissolve you from the inside!

Ecover's tablets use digesters that are easier on the environment and degrade faster, so they don't remain harmful for long. They're not quite as powerful, so you will need to wash off the bigger chunks of food, but they get everything sparkling clean, and everything smells fresh when they come out.

Next time you are thinking of getting "super power" tablets, try these instead, and just take an extra few minutes to wash off the bigger chunks before putting them in the dishwasher. It's better for the environment.

@Amazon - I'm disturbed why "Flavour" is a rate-able feature for Dishwasher tablets?! Aren't we supposed to be telling people NOT to eat these things?

Firstly, the effectiveness, the scent and the concept of the product is great.
for this it would achieve a 5 star rating.

The reason it is only a 2 star rating is because the tablets are wrapped in a plastic packet which needs to be disposed of!

Why cant you produce your tablets in a dissolvable, biodegradable protective cover like so many other competitors?

Doesn't rinse well in our 2016 Bosch machine

Disappointed. Use many other ecover products but there is soap that never completely rinses off the wash when I use these in my 2016 Bosch dishwasher on any cycle. Worse is silicon spoons for our toddler actually taste of soap for a while afterwards (Finish rinsed fine but wasn't very eco, and now using Claro which rinses perfectly and is eco and cheap)
Will mail Ecover one of our spoons after a wash with their tablets when I next get a chance
