Sir David Jason was born in 1940 in North London. His acting career has been long and varied: from his theatre work in the West End to providing the voices of Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows, Dangermouse and The BFG. From Open All Hours to The Darling Buds of May to his starring roles as Detective Inspector Frost in A Touch of Frost and, of course, Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses.

The 1996 Only Fools Christmas special 'Time on Our Hands' was seen live by 24.35 million viewers and to this day is the UK's most-watched comedy show of all time.

Purchased as a Christmas present for mother in law who loves Del Boy but also great fondness for David Jason as an actor and follows in all of programs has been in.She loves these kinds of books and I decided be perfect gift after having had brief look through this book ( that my friend owns not the present lol) it seems is not based solely on fools and horses as title may lead you to believe but on him and his life both before during and after Del Boy.I’m not a great fan of autobiographical works usually but little I read was easy to read and had humour and emotion.The book is hardback and will look great on mums coffee table 😊.Great price.I will update after Christmas with mums opinion but I recommend for any David Jason fans.Edit mum loved the book.She said was full of funny anecdotes and celebrities/co stars but also has sentimental moments and despite reading his previous books it felt new and wasn’t repeat,she waxed lyrical about it so much that I feel I must read it 😂 and I’m going to borrow friends copy and read entire book, I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve had this book on my shelf for a few months now, and it’s one which is easy to keep picking up and dipping in and out of. David Jason holds a fond place in my heart, being a particular favourite of my dear old dad who used to love rewatching episodes of Only Fools. Of course, we all did as well, I mean find me someone who doesn’t laugh at some of Del-Boy’s antics! This book, whilst not technically an autobiography, sees Sir David recount tales of his life and the lessons learnt from them. Written during the first Covid lockdown (and his 80th year), we hear about his rise to fame to where he is now. I loved hearing of his long-standing friendship and working relationship with Ronnie Barker, another particular favourite of mine!

As I was reading, I found myself searching online for video clips of programmes and events mentioned, laughing along with both the book and these clips as I went! Some moved me to tears with the fond memories they evoked, and I loved hearing of his Bafta awarded by Ronnie Barker, and then watching their obvious great friendship on the clip afterwards. Sir David Jason is without a doubt high up there with, not just the comedy greats, but the acting greats of our time. I consider myself lucky to have been around to watch many of his programmes the first time around, and then lucky enough again to be able to keep revisiting them over the years. This book is a funny and warm-hearted recollection of his life by the great man himself! Would definitely recommend.

Becuase its David Jason you feel obliged to give 5 stars because this guy is a living legend.
I really enjoyed reading about fools and horses and the title led me to believe that it may contain more only fools stories. Found the stories about the fools and horses convention really interesting, and the impact the show had on peoples lives (mine included) I got quite tierd of it and struggled to finish it. I feel guilty about the lack of stars but its my opinion and it dragged on. Living legend yes, the book could of been so much better.
