Clearly there are a few reviewers down voting this tuner because they didn't see that it comes with a plastic film over the screen. PEEL IT OFF and all will be revealed. There's no metion of this on the packaging and the little tab isn't obvious.

I have just started bass and needed to tune it up. I tried using the fender tuning app but to be frack it sucked so bad, I thought I was completely incompetent because I couldn't even tune my guitar how was I ever going to play it. I could not get a consistent reading with it. I decided to buy a tuner and went with this one because I liked the graphics which made it easy to tell if you are bang on, sharp or flat.

Needless to say I tuned my bass up in 30 second its so easy. I have read a lot of people compline they cant read the screen. I have had no problems at all, the screen is plenty bright. It did have a screen cover which demonstrated what the screen should look like. I would hope people have removed this before using the tuner or there really is no hope for humanity. Once I have finished using the tuner I slip the little battery separator back under the battery just to stop it draining when not in use.

All in all, I'm really happy with this tuner. If you are just and average dude or dudette and don't need perfection for gigging this is more than adequate to tune you guitar accurate and fast. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

I previously had a much cheaper electronic chromatic tuner that worked perfectly well, but I lost it. This D'Addario tuner is more expensive, but I hoped I would be buying a superior product.
As a tuner, it works fine. I use it on my 6 string acoustic guitar, for various tunings, and also on a 5 string banjo, and does the job, no problems.

Where this product disappoints is the display. It was nice and bright to start with, but at some point it just went dim. I changed the battery but it didn't make a difference. It's readable, but not great, and even worse under bright lighting.

The problem with the display seems to be quite common, so it appears D'Addario have put their name on a flawed product, and given it an inflated price. I'll go back to the cheap off brand one next time...

DISAPPOINTED - TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY

I usually use my floor mounted TC Electronic Poly tuner which I love, I bought 2 x Eclipse tuners back in April and stored them unopened in the relevant acoustic guitar cases for when gigs started to come back. Just done 3 x wedding gigs with the electric guitars and have 2 x acoustic gigs coming up on this Sunday. Cleaned the acoustics & changed my strings to my EJ 16's. Got the tuners out, removed the packaging and popped on to the headstock. Wow what a disappointment - you can hardly see the letters, or the movement on the screen. Checked to see if the 3 volt battery was in the right way, only fits 1 x way!
So opened up the second one I bought - exactly the same issue!! Have I bought 2 x duff tuners? Anyone else had the same issue? Because I bought in April, I have missed the window for sending the two Eclipse tuners back, I have used D'Addario & Planet Waves strings, leads, capo's, tuners (older versions) for years, looks like I'll be heading over to the TC Electronic Polytune clip on. Certainly not what I was expecting from the D'Addario ads & videos - another waste of money that will just go and sit in a drawer somewhere!

Why didn't I buy one sooner

I always thought these were a bit of a gimmick item and probably not that accurate so I've always either tuned by ear or a floor pedal tuner.
Having purchased a new guitar recently with the rubbish strings that they usually have on them, it just won't stay in tune. So I thought I need a quicker, easier way to re-tune it when it drifts off tune (as it's on trial for 30 days so can't restring it yet), and this tuner was my choice.
I always use D'Addario strings because they're the best IMO so choosing a tuner from the same company was a no brainer.
It's simply brilliant, just clip it to the headstock and turn it on, oh why didn't I buy one sooner, no lead required and switch guitars in a flash.
Highly recommended and I don't say that very often.

Really like the fact this is so slim and you can pop it on anything. I got it for my bass but used it on electric and ukulele too.
Super small and tucks behind the headstock so it can't be seen.
Sometimes the display can be a bit dim if it's not dark and battery isn't new. But it was okay for gigs. My only gripe is that it doesn't handle surrounding noise too well. So I couldn't use it for gigging in the end as the stage was too noisy and it well just flash sometimes if it can't distinguish your note from all the surrounding ambient noise. Pretty frustrating when trying to drop d tune for the next song really quickly. So I now use a bypass pedal for gigging and I use this at home for practice or recording.
Great product just had limitations for stage use.
