I have used a Magican tin opened for many years, and have never had any problems with it. However, it is now starting to slip so thought i would treat myself to a replacement.
The new one is absolutely hopeless. It doesn't grip properly, and slithers round the can rather than cutting efficiently. If there is liquid in the tin it slops out as i find it impossible to turn the can on the level.
I will have to buy another one and this one will go in the bin, while my old one will remain in the drawer as a back-up. Don't waste your money on this, go for something else.

Probably the worst can opener ever. The distance between the teeth and the cutter is to small for most cans. It's very difficult to get on. When it does get on, it is tricky to keep it straight and ensure the can is pierced. Will open ok when that is done however, previous can opener (which broke after 20 years) was far better and easier to use. If you have arthritic hands, look elsewhere. Even without, it's still such a faff. Couldn't be bothered to return as I needed a tin opener. I think I may have been better off sticking with my swiss army knife though.

Only opens half the tins I've used it with - it never seems to open them fully either however hard I grip the thing... It also opens things like tuna below the 'liquid level' so that makes a huge mess. It leaves a very sharp edge every time as well. Rubbish.

I haven't had the best experience with tin openers over the years. I have tried both manual and electric ones and I have to say they have both been as bad as each other.
Every manual one I have owned thus far seems to be so stiff that you need a pair of pliers just to turn the damn thing. They would rarely grip the side correctly and even when they do and you manage to get to the end of the rotation, the lid would land firmly in the contents along with any shards of metal that the blade decided to sheer off along the way.
But of course, you don't have that problem with this one! It grips the tin perfectly and rotates with little torque. It catches the lid at the end so you don't have to fish it out later and it has the advantage of removing the 'lip' of the tin along with the lid so that you have a perfect open cylinder which makes it even easier to empty the contents. I cannot comment on the robustness yet as I have only had it a short period of time, but if it fails I will update my review accordingly. But, so far so good!

Rather flimsy. Feels like the handle is going to break if it comes across a tough can. The old Magi Can was sturdy. This new version has had "corners cut" in its manufacture. Wouldn't buy it again.

The idea is clever enough, but this can opener is nowhere near sturdy enough for basic domestic use. Although, initially, I think it may have worked better, overall the teeth do not grip the can well enough, and they slip, and slide across the part of the can that they are supposed to be cutting. I threw mine in the bin after having them just a few weeks, and I'd only used them about 10 times. Just a waste of money.
