- Some of the storage capacity is used for formatting and other purposes and is not available for data storage. 1GB equals 1 billion bytes. Not all capacities available at initial launch.
- Typical I/O performance numbers as measured using CrystalDiskMark with a queue depth of 32 and write cache enabled. Fresh out-of-box (FOB) state is assumed. For performance measurement purposes, the SSD may be restored to FOB state using the secure erase command. System variations will affect measured results.

Unfortunately, the Acronis Crucial cloning software doesn’t recognise the drive, so ended up installing Macrium Reflect free version.
As the laptop only had about 70gb of data used on the 1TB drive, it was easy to clone it onto the SSD. Just had to reduce the destination partition size in Macrium to fit.
I swapped the drives and it worked perfectly. Now applications like Word or Excel load in 2 seconds instead of 15. Booting and shutdown are also many times faster and it feels like a completely different laptop.
Battery life seems a better too.
Superb value considering the price and performance. Probably extends the useful life of the laptop by a few years too, so well worth the small outlay versus buying a new laptop.
I currently have a Samsung Evo 960 250GB M2 NVME drive as my main system drive for OS and some games and a 500GB 7,200 SATA to store my games and applications on - this 480GB SSD was to replace that drive.
I cloned it using Macrium Reflect Free (downloaded from Macrium) and now happily using this drive. This isn't the best SSD out there, but currently offers fantastic value for money and if you're building a new PC, upgrading an existing one or looking to swap out a laptop hard drive you can't go far wrong for the money.
You need a USB-SATA cable that is NOT included with the drive and I didn't see that fact stated in the item description either but luckily I already had one that came with my other drive. This cable is used to connect your new drive to your PC/Laptop via USB to clone your already installed drive.
The free cloning software is easy to use and you get step by step instructions how to install it then use it.
The speed of the cloning process depends on your PC speed-I cloned approx 400Gb of data in less than 10 minutes and the new drive was ready to use.
I swapped the drives over and powered on my PC-it did take longer than usual to boot-up but I presumed that it was due to a new drive being installed so I didn't think anything of it. Once booted up everything seemed to be working fine and has been the few days I have had it, the boot time has improved from the very first time but it is nowhere near as fast as my original Samsung 850Evo which was almost instant.
Overall-a good SSD for the price and is doing the job I wanted it to do but it isn't as quick as I hoped it would be.
Speeds aren't bad but there are better value for money options out there.
It's done alright so far with 1.7tb written but without being directly in front of a fan will run a lot warmer than the other SSDs in my system. I have 2 Samsung 860 evos and a WD blue and they will reach a max of 40C, the Crucial will often go above 60, not ideal for longevity of the drive.
All said though it's been pretty good for gaming so far and while not the fastest is still much quicker than HDD loading in games so worth it if you don't intend on using it as a boot drive or to keep important data on it.
Had a look at SSD's and did a bit of research and found that speeds were drastically higher than HDD's.
Made up my mind - period.
Saw that Crucial had the best deal and good reviews as well - took a chance and went for it.
Couldn't be happier. Cloning software had a few errors but still completed the cloning process.
Installed it in my old laptop and was blown away by the performance when it booted up - Like FIRE!!! Felt even better than a new laptop. Booting up took just a few seconds and after that opening even applications was blazing quick.
Couldn't be happier with my purchase - money well spent!!!
Only problems were from my ignorance, having forgotten how I used to clone my hard drives, been quite a while since the last time I had to do this :-)
Bought a 1TB Crucial BX500 SSD drive as I had damaged a partition on my laptop SSD, so it added a complexity to cloning the drive until it finally dawned on me to just clone from my other spare laptop which has a normal hdd.
I also think that free programs for cloning do not handle cloning from SSD drivers and do not give a trial period so I wasn't prepared to fork over money for software that I cannot be sure will do the job required.
