The Comfort Book, a collection of aphorisms and inspirational stories of survival against the odds, is a guide to living and finding hope in these disjointed times" ― Guardian

5.0 out of 5 stars I for one need happy-fluff in my life!
By Kirstan73 on 6 July 2021
It is always a mystery to me why anyone would purchase a book from an author they clearly dislike. Character assassination and presumption are really rather unpleasant traits. Don’t like the author, don’t buy the book, simple really. May I suggest a little advice … the chapter ‘short’.

Anyhoo, the last 12 months have been tough for most of us, so for me the book is perfectly timed. Personally I bought the book as I was pretty sure it would make me smile and give me some welcome respite from the crazy world we currently live in.

Thankfully the book is thoughtful, funny and yes for me … comforting happy-fluff!

1.0 out of 5 stars A book full of ineffective happy-fluff
By Kid Ferrous 🔴🟡🟢 on 15 August 2021
This isn’t the kind of book to read from cover to cover, rather something to dip into when you need a “comfort hit”. You may glean comfort from this book, regardless of what I think, and that’s wonderful, but it is not for me. A lot of the content is simply lists of music, books and films that the author likes and finds comfort in. There are anecdotes here, poetry there, some remedial philosophy inbetween. Mixed in with this is pretty much the kitchen sink - stories, quotes, a list of “things it is OK to say no to”, and an apparently serious discussion about the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
“The Comfort Book” is happy-fluff. If you need that in your life then you will enjoy this book. I’ve already seen glowing reviews for it so it is sure to be another bestseller, but as far as I am concerned the world wouldn’t suffer too much if this book didn’t exist.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Very Uplifting Book. * HAPPY FLUFF * Disappointed Mine Arrived In such Poor Condition !!!!!!!!
By Atsoc'ta .... on 7 July 2021
Absolutely love this book, and thought it much needed especially after social distancing etc
I’m planning reading this book from start to finish, then keep as a dive into at random
Read a around 100 pages and found it a very thought provoking, comforting, a very beautiful and tactile book
Whichever way you read it from cover to cover or randomly this is a real keeper of a book

I gave 5 stars for the content... 0 for the condition

I preordered this book in May, and was very disappointed to find my copy arrived with wavy pages and all the pages after 200
Very fold damaged, the packaging was intact and it's annoying to think this was sent out from Amazon in this condition
Shame as I love the book and want to keep it.
I didn’t return as want to take on holiday on Friday ..

Highly recommend if in good condition..
