Choosing the right moisturiserEveryone’s eczema is different and personal to them, that’s why picking the right moisturisers to help hydrate your skin is important and can help you manage the symptoms of your condition quicker. If you have eczema-prone skin, finding which product is right for you can be challenging, but that’s where speaking to your pharmacist will help guide you in making the right decision. As a general rule of thumb, lotions tend to be lighter and used for covering larger areas of eczema-prone skin. Ointments tend to be a thicker consistency and are best used before you go to bed, so the product has time to soak in. Creams are for everyday use and can be used directly onto the problem but also more frequently to keep the skin hydrated and nourished throughout the day. |
Keeping HydratedEveryday skin loses water and loosing too much can lead to dehydrated skin, which can cause irritation and conditions like eczema. Everyday habits and environments can help fast-track water loss, such as air conditioning, the weather and not drinking enough water. Hot showers can also contribute to dry skin, but a product like Cetraben Cleansing Cream is a soap substitute so not only will it keep you clean but hydrate your skin whilst in the shower. It’s always recommended to use a moisturiser throughout the day, not just on flair ups – this will help manage any on-going reoccurrence of dry skin. |
Your skincare routineMaking sure you follow a simple skincare routine every day will help keep your skin hydrated and rid of irritants. It will also help ensure you’re able to get on with your day without the stress and worry that eczema-prone skin can bring. As a first step use a skin diary to keep on top of any flair ups – this will help you isolate your eczema triggers and help you manage them better. Trying to establish a good skincare routine on top of everything else can be challenging, so set yourself a reminder so that you don’t forget. And most importantly use a moisturiser that hydrates your skin frequently during the day, not just when flair ups occur. You can find multiple products to help you throughout the day, such as Cetraben Cream which comes in a pocket-size 50ml, and Cetraben Ointment which can be used before bed. |

No fancy stinky perfumed useless cream, this is the real deal. I have very dry skin, everywhere, even my face, have had most of my life even as a child. I’ve tried every single cream known to man and was sick to death of sitting rubbing in a cream only for it to dry off...to find it still itchy and dry.
The very first time I used this, my dry itchy skin was soothed immediately and I didn’t have to reapply it. It rubs in quickly and has no stinky perfume.
It was hours after applying this that I realised I hadn’t been scratching myself. I no longer have hot spots or areas or patches of dry scaly cream and I am wearing short sleeves, something I haven’t been able to for years. Even hours after applying, my skin still felt moisturised and important to me..normal. I’m so pleased to have found this. Thank you Cetraben. Very speedy delivery too.
I am unable to use the cream and I am in desperate need. The bottle is design in such a way it is littlerally impossible to even break it open.
I cannot return it either.
Total waste of money !

I used to get it on prescription... but you can buy it from Boots if you forget to pack it ...
It hydrates well at the point of use but it doesn’t last. I noticed many reviews saying they love it because it’s not heavy, sinks in very well and it’s not greasy at all. To be honest though, people with eczema and skin conditions need somewhat greasy, thick heavy creams that hydrate and act as a barrier. People with eczema typically have faulty genes that stops the skin barrier functioning properly - you need heavy creams to replicate this barrier that protects from the outside. It moisturises okay but it’s lightness isn’t necessarily a good thing as it means the moisture can just come straight back out after you’ve applied it.
I know some people don’t like the greasiness but I’d recommend Doublebase in the pink bottle. It hydrates really nicely but it still has that bit of heaviness that keeps the moisture in your skin. Find the 500g bottles instead of the 250g one that Amazon sells.
