My wife casually said to me she would like an Amazon Echo Show 5 (as I have) in place of the bedside clock / alarm she has and after a bit of research on Amazon, I realised I could get a refurbished Amazon Echo Show 8 cheaper than the new 5 and decided to buy it. The Show 8 arrived the next day and WOW, you would never know it was a refurbished version. The packaging was perfect, as was the contents of everything in the box and it worked exactly as expected and is complete with a 1 year guarantee. So here we are after a couple of weeks of ownership and it ticks all the boxes. My advice is, don't be put off by Amazon refurbished products, they are perfect in every way and even if it was purchased as a gift for someone, no one would know it was not a brand new product. Well done, Amazon, I'll be back.

Bought this from Amazon Warehouse as refurbished for a measly £69. Frankly, this device is incredible value for money at this price and I honestly could not distinguish this from new.

The sound quality is incredible for the size of the device and the picture quality is the same - we use it for watching Netflix in the kitchen as well as answering the ring doorbell as well as the really useful reminders function.

Just bought one for the mother in law for mothers day and it allows us to keep in touch easily.

Overall we have 2 echo show 8's and an echo show 5 as well.

Everything works seamlessly and the echo show 8 is paired with 2 echo premium sounds in the kitchen so music is brilliant and the sound quality is excellent even when turned right up.

Couldn't be happier with these devices and they replace the google home service which was falling apart at the seams. Used to be better than Alexa but now its simply rubbish for radio etc so Alexa has taken over.

Get one from Amazon Warehouse - you wouldn't be disappointed

So getting netflix to work is a pain and I am sure put people off, but once it works this device is now the full package!

getting netflix to work, Update your software,

drag down from home settings>device options>check updates = update wait until finished

from Home after update, swipe left>video

click youtube to open brower, SILK BROWSER select, dots in top left to get to settings
if you have selected firefox and it is coming up go into device settings and web options, browser, select silk, go back to previous step)

advanced settings>data stored = clear data

back to browser address bar, enter netflix.com

Log in

it will ask you to get it to work USE the Netflix app ALWAYS, it will ask you to log in again, BINGO!

if a popup does not appear asking you to use app it will NOT work in the browser

Now when you go to the video option, the netflix button should now work! hope this helps someone!

My wife has claimed the Echo Show 8 for the kitchen as she loves the ease at which she can ask Alexa for recipes and step by step instructions which appear on the screen. Great product with good sound quality for the size of the unit which seems well built and hopefully will last a while. As you would expect, the sound is far better than my Google Mini that we had in the kitchen before. I would have liked to be able to use it to monitor my Wyze IP security camera but have since established that it is not supported in the UK. I have another IP camera (TP-Link Tapo CT60) which is supported. However, there is a noticeable delay of around 5 seconds from camera to Echo unit. I understand that this is due to the fact that the image has t travel to an Amazon server and then through to the Show unit. So I would perhaps not recommend it for security camera observations. All in all though, we are both happy with the purchase.

The product quality is okay, which certainly justify the price. However, since I have had and updated the firmware, it has been ridiculously over annoying with freezing and rebooting issues over and over again. I have tried all the tricks on electronic devices and Internet connection, all proved abortive. I personally come into conclusion that is the firmware. I will keep this for 30 days and if this issue persist further, then, I have no choice than to ask for a refund, but if resolved, then I will keep it. Please, don't get me wrong with my review, I mean what's the point of a product who can't serve it's purpose right. Just keeping it real!
Further to this review, I finally returned the certified refurbish with software issues for a brand new one bought and it worked perfectly with no issues earlier mentioned. I will keep it as my final verdict. It's just getting better and it will get better more in the nearest future with better updates, having listened to their customers.

I've bought 3 of these all in all and it's amazing. Sound quality is great it's easy to use and an asset to our home. In fact we replaced our hi fi with ceiling speakers and Bluetooth link. But the sound quality is so good as it us we very rarely connect the external speakers.
This product is a no brainer. I wake up and just say Alexa good morning and I get BBC news headlines email updates and our local radio station.
I recommend learning how to set up routines they are priceless.
The drop in feature is great too.
It even controls my firestick.
