How to recognise genuine inks? And Paper ink packaging

Look for the hologram. A unique colour-changing Canon hologram is included on the packaging of all genuine Canon ink cartridges. The hologram appears as iridescent gold when viewed from the front, but dark iridescent green when tilted horizontally.

Fake holograms do not change colour, or change only slightly, when viewed from different angles. They are often displayed on packaging in the wrong colour, size or in an untidy way and may also appear damaged or blurred.

Plastic ink packaging

European plastic type inkjet packaging or blister multipacks may not include the unique hologram. So look out for Canon logos that are blurred or in the wrong colour, font or size to identify counterfeit products. The packaging may also include spelling errors or look like it has been resealed, reused or tampered with.

Don't buy non original ink cartridges...

We rely on several printers at work, we use a lot of ink and I hate spending money on ink cartridges. We have tried non original items, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't - but when they don't work it is very, very annoying. Now we only use these original items, which always work, are delivered next day and are not problem at all.

I bought this type of cartridge in the hope that it would last longer than the normal ones. I'm freelance and the only person in the household using the printer with such toners. I print moderately, most of the time in draft quality in black and white. The toner arrived on August 13th. I replaced it on the same day. This morning, September 29th, I had to replace it again. It had been showing "running low on ink" for weeks. There seems to be rather less ink than the normal ones. I'm not satisfied at all.

As always, lasts (almost) forever and gives consistent results. Only downside is the packaging, the plastic being impossible to open without a strong pair of scissors and risk of injury. I don't know why Canon do this when they also sell identical cartridges in cardboard boxes. Other than that, another satisfied customer.

Consistently good print quality. I use HP 80g printer paper since it's normally only about 50p per ream than cheap copier paper. They work well, get enough prints for a family printer to last about a year. But that's pricey, compared to the price of printers (same for all manufacturers). And fiddly to install in that little window under the scanner on a 3000 series PIXMA. But not really much to complain about.

Ink arrived 5th May, low ink warning appeared 19th May.....I only use printer for personal moderate use, I'm not printing money!!!
I had previous ordered same product back in March 2021 and this lasted till May 2022. Going to return, very disappointed with the quality of product from Canon.
