Used for the overgrown nails of a large staffy who is terrified of clippers and files. With having black nails, his quick is impossible to see, so I didn’t clip off his nail, I sheered chips off around the edges a little every week to force the quick to recede. Please don’t dive on and use the safety on these to cut a chunk of your dogs nail off, it will bleed and hurt immensely. Little and often, plenty of treats, file the edges so they don’t snag. These clips are perfect for this job.

Clips well, but the guard (despite being tightened) slips after every cut, which caused me to cut nail too short as it moved. They now live in a bin and I bought another pair elsewhere. My dogs safety comes first. Wouldn't recommend if you actually need to use the guard.

My dog hates having his nails clipped, often it used to be a gruelling process, lining up his little claws and making sure I didn't cut off too much, he'd often be fed up before I even did a single one, but with these, its simple, the little stopper plate makes it impossible for you to take off too much, and removes the hassle from cutting claws!

Great item, thoroughly recommend to people who have to basically wear gloves to cut their furbabies claws!

Coming out of the packet, they were gritty and felt cheap. On testing, the top of the blades clipped each other every time they were squeezed.

I tried this on two of my dogs nails - and promptly binned them. They tore through the nail rather than cut them, the handles slide easily in your hand, the guard doesn't stay in place. The lock also flips down every time you use them, which was inconvenient. At least there was a file I could use to smooth the rough edges, but that is the only reason this gets one single star.

I am used to clipping my dogs nails, I have been doing it for seven years. These were meant to be replacements for an old pair I bought from the vet that were no longer sharp but they are just not up to the job.

I wanted to like this but it didn't do the job. It crushed the dog's nail rather than a clean cut (medium sized staffy). The nail file - nice idea but doesn't even work on my nails. It takes too long to file the scruffy edges left by the clipper, so the dog is getting impatient. Definitely makes the job difficult. My old, dull clippers are better.
