Our poor kiddo was suffering pretty badly after each bottle. We'd tried switching formula brand, going to ready-made formula, giving gripe water after a feed, and have always given infacol before a feed... nothing was helping. A couple of our NCT friends swore by these bottles so we thought we'd try them. Unfortunately, they are just too tall to stand in our fridge (except in the door, and of course baby formula needs to be kept towars the back if the fridge where it's coolest). "No problem," says I "they have stoppers, so I'll just lie them down flat." Nope! As soon as I put them on their side, formula started leaking out between the bottle and collar. And I don't mean a few drops; in the 5 or so seconds the bottles were on their side, several tablespoons full of formula has pooled underneath them. So, back to Amazon they go.
On the up-side, we seem to have found the solution to the colic, thanks to our GP, who advised that we add about 5% of extra water when we make up the formula. The instructions on the side of the tin say not to, NCT says not to, the Health Visitor said not to... but on the doctor's advice we tried it and for the last few days there have been no groans, straining or screams after a feed.
