2.0 out of 5 stars If you’re going to read a review it should probably be this one.
By Amazon Customer on 21 October 2020
In this review I talk about the shades lavender, Black Forest, cotton, nutmeg, raspberry ripple, and mandarin. The colour lavender is absolute trash (unless you’re looking for a product that has no pigment at all). In my photos you can see it swatched (along with other gelly polishes) with both one and two coats, and compared to black and white polishes. If I hadn’t put the bottle next to a bottle of white (cotton), you would think it’s white. The product photos for this show a much more pigmented colour, so definitely be aware of that. It’s also totally unblendable and just starts picking itself up if you try to layer more than twice for more pigment, so that’s super weird - definitely no way to make this one look any better. If you’re looking for a shade that’s more like the product photos I recommend barrym gelly in prickly pear, same formula same price but actually has some colour and looks like the product photos for lavender. Black Forest is a meh black polish, but for the price it’s totally fine. Definitely not a one coater but you wouldn’t expect that from something this incredibly cheap. Be aware that you can still sometimes leave some visible brush strokes even in the second coat, but as long as you have good technique it shouldn’t happen often. Mandarin is a super lovely shade (the ombré on the tips of my nails) but does take maybe 3 coats for full pigment, especially if you’re applying with a sponge or detailing brush. Nutmeg is fine, another regular two coat polish. Raspberry ripple is a slightly odd one, again I think it’s pretty misrepresented in the product photos used to advertise it but it’s a pretty enough colour. Keep in mind though that it’s incredibly stubborn to apply with a sponge, it does not like to blend at all. Cotton is a pretty decent white polish for this price, I was actually quite surprised. I know the swatches I uploaded are against a white background so you don’t get the full picture, but I’ve also swatched it on a solid black background and it did pretty well. I wouldn’t say you should use one coat, definitely two if you can, but it’s not one of those disgusting milky ones - you could probably get away with just one coat in a real pinch. Other than that, I have no problems with the gelly line for their price point. I’m definitely a sucker for higher end products (esp. essie, my standards are high) but my collection is vast and I’ve tried everything from £1 to £30. In terms of longevity the entire gelly line usually lasts me 4-6 days before it gets unwearable and gets weird hairline cracks through it. Sometimes I’ll get the odd chip around day 2 or 3 but it’s always barely noticeable or very easy to fix. Obviously top these with a clear top coat of some kind (my favourite at a lower price point is the Revlon extra life no chip top coat - double the price of these but also double the amount of product, lasts forever). Without a top coat I have absolutely no idea how these wear, I don’t know why you would try that anyway. Yes this review has taken me a stupid amount of time to put together with testing wear, swatching etc. but labelling those swatch photos took literally 15 minutes, I hope they’re useful! Good procrastination for me, hopefully a good review for you. (This review is also specifically linked to the shade lavender, hence the 2 stars. I have put ratings for the other shades but I don’t want to dupe this review)

5.0 out of 5 stars First time trying yellow nail polish... I'm converted! 😎🍌💅🏼
By Flamingo Bean on 1 May 2020
Barry M has been one of my firm favourites when it comes to nail polish; huge array of colours to choose from, the wide brush which is so reminiscent of that used by Essie and Rimmel (I hate thin brushes with a passion 🤭), pretty good longetivity... and most importantly, the price!

Yellow was never a colour I would go for - my usual picks would be reds, blues or nudes... I'm sure lockdown and being indoor for so long has played a part in this. Very prompt delivery from Amazon as per usual (thank you! ❤), and it arrived securely packaged in bubble wrap. Now onto the actual polish...

Upon first glance the colour leaned towards a lemony yellow, but by the time I painted onto my nails it is actually warmer - think minion yellow. Formula is creamy as per expected from Barry M, slightly sheer but two coats will look opaque - thin layering is important, because when I painted too thick at one point the brush seemed to have dispensed all the polish and I had to dip back into the bottle.

Drying time is average - as it's not a quick dry formula I tend to give it 15 minutes for each coat to become fully dry. The finish is very glossy as per advertised. I finished off with a coat of Seche Viche quick dry top coat, followed by Essie's Gel Couture top coat.

Longevity is yet to be determined; it's been a while since I last used Barry M nail polishes, I'll add to the review when I have the chance.

Overall, exceptionally pleased with this colour! 💛

14/05/2020 update: longevity is approximately 4 days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly shiny & a breeze to use!
By LP on 27 January 2019
I really love this super shiny black from Barry M. Another great polish to add to my collection. The polish is a good consistency, the brush is a good size and it applies smoothly and easily. When used with a base & top coat it lasts well and any chips can be covered with a top up. If you’re looking for a high shine nail polish that looks professionally done (I’m not great at painting my own nails and still always get asked if they’re fake or where I got them done!) then Barry M Gelly polish range is perfect for you! I can’t wait to get more colours!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love!
By Denisa. on 11 December 2020
I love the Peanut Butter color! It’s such a gorgeous nude. It lasts well and fully opaque in 2 coats - i always apply 2 coats anyway. It lasted really well on my nails too. 5/5 recommend.

Nutmeg is really pretty. Still a wearable nude, but more pinky toner compared to Peanut Butter. Wears well, 5/5

Acai smootie is a pretty mauve. Very neutral and wearable. Lasted well, 5/5

Banana split... ehh. The color is pretty, basically looks like a banana skin so the name is spot on. I hoped it was a tone or two lighter but it’s still bright and popping as it is. However it chipped a lot easier than the others. 3.5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Good coverage with just 2 coats
By Ana on 17 May 2020
It is good for the price you get. One thing concerns me the most is that you don’t get the ingredients on the actual bottle of product in comparison to the other brands. Overall you good coverage in just two coats as seen on the swatches and my nails

5.0 out of 5 stars Best black nail polish I've tried.
By Steph on 22 December 2019
Ok, this has literally just came through my door 5 minutes ago. I just had to try it out straight away. Where has this black nail polish been all my life? I've been hunting for the perfect black nail polish for years! Looks like my hunt is finally over. I would definitely recommend this product. Only downfall is the shape of the brush.
