I am seriously hard of hearing so phone calls had become a real problem for me. These BT 4600s have made a huge difference and substantially improved my quality of life. Regrettably " hard of hearing" is still a bit of a joke unless you are a sufferer in which case it's an isolating nightmare. Instead of dreading phone calls, these new phones have made calls a pleasure again. I can understand most callers by increasing the volume and/or pressing the amplification button. If absolutely necessary I use the speaker phone option. All these options can be easily activated or deactivated before or during calls.
All other aspects e.g call blocking, storing numbers, caller ID, answering service etc are as one would expect from any modern device and are again easily activated by following the instruction booklet.
As for the low cost; for me this purchase is the best value for money in years

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Great little phone at reasonable price

I like the blocking system since using this I can control those nuisance calls. Easy to use. Large number buttons on key pad.

I bought this because it claims to be designed for the hard of hearing. My wife needs hearing aids, and I chose this phone with that in mind. The result is very disappointing. The sound lacks clarity, and whilst one can boost the volume sufficiently, the sound quality is poorer than the old Panasonic phone which it replaced. In fact, my wife now often tells callers she will phone them back on her mobile because she cannot hear well enough on this phone.
For myself, I do not find the phone's display is well planned. The digits are too large for the display, so you cannot see the whole of the number that is calling. And if you want to check a contact's phone number, the displayed number scrolls round continually, making it very difficult to see what number is displayed.
The phone has many features in which I am not interested. I bought it expecting good quality sound and a clear display, and it performs poorly in both respects.
I have now thrown this phone away and bought a Gigaset phone, which is entirely satisfactory.

Perfect for my partner's line who has vision impairment due to, hope fully short term, issues after a car accident. I set up a VIP list in minutes to ensure her friends did not have to go through the announced call system. She can quickly add or block other numbers as required. It's easier to do than explain!
I got a similar model as a pair for my home office line to keep away "Windows Support" scammers, PPP etc. Having two sets means that you can communicate internally, perfect for when you need reassurance or, in her case, needs a cup of tea :-)
Plenty of features, now the scammers and cold callers are stopped before they get to her or me.
You can add your friends and known organisations to a VIP list and block up to 1000 scammers, marketeers and silent calls.
Note to callers, if you have withheld your number, when you call your friends add 1470 to the front of the friends number so they can see your number and add to the VIP list, unless you prefer to be announced. Haven't tried it yet!
Well done BT, let's see that blocked list created so the bad people do not even get as far as the announced calls list. Check who you sell services to?

This is a truly exceptional phone. The user guide is very easy to follow and the phone very easy to set up and use. The call blocker is effective and simple to use. With a hearing impaired partner it is important that the phone produces clear sound at at effective level. This kit achieves this and more. It has a sound boost button and a really good hands free speaker. The battery has good staying power so you can take it around the house. All in all a superb little phone.

Only had these phones for a week or two but very impressed! I have not had to speak to any cold callers. The Call Guardian screening is very effective, callers not on your "allowed" list are asked to give their name and number and press the # key before being connected. I have found that the cold callers are put off by this and just hang up. I have had several such calls from dodgy numbers but I haven't yet had a cold caller come through and speak to me, if they did I would press the "block" button to stop them in future. And those automated recorded cold calls don't get through since they can't press the # key I presume.
I am not sure how the system handles calls where the caller has withheld their number as I haven't encountered this yet, but again I imagine that most cold callers will be put off by having to be screened.
The phone itself is fine, the buttons are a bit bigger than average and much easier to see and press clearly. It has all the gadgets you expect nowadays: speakerphone, contacts list, answering machine. Had to spend a bit of time finding my way round the menus for the various settings but it works pretty well straight out of the box.
